25.01.2022 Why is it that a Royal Commission into Trade Unions is "very important", but a Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide is just "paying lawyers"? https://www.change.org/p/a-royal-commission-into/u/28046278

25.01.2022 Not a picture of me on Throwback Thursday for a change, this is my dad and youngest son!

25.01.2022 Great to visit No 34 Aboriginal Health Service in Ulverstone today - they're doing some great work in our community.

24.01.2022 Happy Monday! Got to catch up with Archie the other week - he's the ambassador for Peppers Silos Hotel in Launceston, and is a very good boy at his job

24.01.2022 Really looking forward to this Q and A event in Burnie in a few weeks for The Coasters! It's a free event but there are limited spaces, so make sure you reserve your spot here: https://bit.ly/327dm4e

24.01.2022 Today, 78 years after HMAS Armidale went down, Teddy Sheean's Victorian Cross will FINALLY be awarded. To every Tasmanian and every Australian who stood up and had their voices heard for Teddy - thank you. He never stopped fighting for us, and we fought for him. Teddy and his heroism will never be forgotten. We finally have justice for Teddy.

24.01.2022 There's a project that could create 4000 jobs in Tasmania, but the State Govt are holding it up with bureaucracy. It's madness! We cannot afford to lose these opportunities, especially when so people need work at the moment. To the State Government I say: just get on with it.

22.01.2022 It's been a sad week on the West Coast because of the mass whale stranding. But thanks to the tireless work of volunteers, local aquaculture workers, the Strahan community and DPIPWE staff, 110 whales were saved! A huge effort in cold and trying conditions.

22.01.2022 They might look cute in this video, but just wait until they grow up Baby Tassie Devils at Wings Wildlife Farm! Video via Discover Tasmania.

22.01.2022 Why are we sending at-risk Tassie kids to a centre in the Northern Territory?! This is the Liberals answer to shutting down the extremely successful U-turn program for troubled youth and it's appalling. A shameful day for the Tasmanian Government and child protection.

21.01.2022 The Government confirms that they DID NOT advertise the role of National Commissioner for Veteran Suicide before deciding to hand-pick the Defence Minister's mate for it. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/vetrc What was the criteria then? Who knew the Minister longest? Labor can't supoort this sham.

20.01.2022 Lots of talk about the trans-Tasman bubble with NZ today. I'd love to see New Zealanders able to come and experience our beautiful country, especially getting them to Tassie! Sam sent me in a Monday Mailbag note about this travel bubble just the other day, and I absolutely agree with his thoughts. If you would like to be considered for the Monday Mailbag, please email [email protected] or post to PO Box 256 Burnie, TAS 7320.

20.01.2022 I tried to debate Australia boycotting the Winter Olympics in China. Not everyone agrees with me, that’s fair. But it’s worth debating. Because China isn’t just another country, and we can’t treat it just like another Olympics. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/foreigninterference

20.01.2022 You might think the MCG or the SCG is the most famous oval in Australia, but I'm pretty sure the Queenstown gravel oval takes the cake! For Tassie Tuesday today, I'll take you for a bit of a walk around the oval, and you'll see why I've seen some doozy football injuries come from here.

20.01.2022 It's the second day of summer, so of course it's snowing in Tassie by John Warden via Great Lake Hotel. Tasmania

19.01.2022 I’ve gone and taken the time to do my homework about the Government’s uni bill, but the more I look at it, the less it makes any sense to me. I can’t support a bill that reserves its harshest hits for our poorest kids.

19.01.2022 We've had nine veteran suicides in the last three weeks. This crisis deserves better than the Defence Minister's personal mate being put in charge. It deserves a Royal Commission. This week, the Government's half-baked stitch up is coming up for a vote. Here's four experts explaining why Labor MUST oppose it.

19.01.2022 Is Australian Labor Party really going to vote for this amateur hour stitch-up that is the National Commissioner? Labor MP's, like Kate below, have come out in support of a Royal Commission into Veterans' Suicide. But they've been silent on whether they'll let the National Commissioner legislation slip through. You can email your state representatives and tell them you want a Royal Commission here: https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/vetrc

18.01.2022 Don't forget that tomorrow is McHappy Day! Funds raised go towards Ronald McDonald House to support kids who are diagnosed with a serious illness and their families. Looks like Burnie Macca's is having a bit of an 80's day - and who doesn't love the 80's?!

18.01.2022 It's Friday! I'm usually a pretty early riser, but might need to try and have a sleep-in tomorrow ready for the next two weeks (and by sleep-in I mean 6am )

17.01.2022 This is EXACTLY what I've been saying - there's equipment in TAFEs in Tassie dating back to the Cold War! https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/makeaustralia We need to give more funding to TAFE to get them back on track, so our country can get back on track. TAFE means hands-on skills for our kids, and getting them ready for the manufacturing boost that Australia needs.

17.01.2022 What a joke this 'review' is. If there's nothing to hide, show us the previous two reviews into Brahminy Foundation! Those kids deserve to come home, not be shipped off to another state and forgotten about.

16.01.2022 TAS BORDERS REOPENING The Tasmanian Premier has announced today that Tas borders will reopen to Queensland, South Australia, ACT, Northern Territory and Western Australia on October 26.

16.01.2022 Today is National Police Rememberance Day, and we remember those who have tragically lost their lives in the line of service. We say thank you to those serving who put themselves in danger every day to protect us in the community. We also remember Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris and Constable Josh Prestney, who were killed on duty at a vehicle stop in Melbourne’s on 22 April. It was the biggest loss of life in a si...ngle event for Victoria Police. My thoughts and prayers are with their families. Video from Tasmania Police.

16.01.2022 If the shoe fits...

16.01.2022 One guess as to who's in the photo The Army days!

16.01.2022 Tomorrow, Labor decides if it's going to support the Government's National Commissioner for Defence and Veteran Suicide Prevention, or reject it and hold firm in the call for a full, transparent and independent Royal Commission. The mother of Jesse Bird wants Labor to reject it. The mother of Dave Finney wants Labor to reject it. The mother of Brock Hewitt wants Labor to reject it. ... The mother of Ian Turner wants Labor to reject it. The mother of Daniel Garforth wants Labor to reject it. The mother of Bradley Carr wants Labor to reject it. I want Labor to reject it. Tell them to hold the line. Fight for what's right. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/vetrc

15.01.2022 Geez this was a long time ago now!

15.01.2022 Times are tough, but there are still plenty out there wanting/receiving pay rises - including the politicians! Leadership starts from the top. There should be a freeze on politicians wages, so they can start doing some of that heavy lifting for the community.

14.01.2022 Have a great weekend

13.01.2022 Well they don't make them like this anymore! Yesterday I had the honour of presenting 95 year old Jo with her Remembrance Medal for serving in World War II. She told me all of her stories about being in the army (who as she said 'will take anyone' - I think that might have been a dig at me ) and especially enjoyed talking about different guns and rifles. Thanks for your service Jo, you're a legend.

12.01.2022 Tasmanians lost $18.5 million to pokies in August. $18.5 million. In one month. When people are struggling post-pandemic. It's beyond disgraceful, especially when many of the people losing money to these machines are some of the most vulnerable in our community.

10.01.2022 The National Commissioner is not "better than a Royal Commission." It's a scam. Veterans are being sabotaged at every step and Australian Labor Party is silent on if it'll vote for it.

10.01.2022 The most important thing in any job is to back yourself throwback to when the JLN was orange!

09.01.2022 Alright, who's got the tree up already? Can confirm that I don't

09.01.2022 Andrew Wilkie gets it. The National Commissioner is a slow-moving hustle. The Government will get away with it if Australian Labor Party lets them. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/vetrc But they're silent! Why won't they come out against this second-rate deal for veterans?

09.01.2022 It's the Mates4Mates Appeal Day. For today only, donations to Mates4Mates will be doubled and go towards providing struggling veterans with access to the support they desperately need. These guys are the real deal and are doing some great work for veterans, so I would encourage you to donate if you are able to.... https://bit.ly/2Jvftsg See more

09.01.2022 Today TAS borders reopen to VIC. I hope everybody enjoys being reunited with their family, friends and loved ones Tasmania is now open to all states, except SA which is currently at 'medium-risk' (which means you will have to quarantine in Tasmania, but may be permitted to quarantine at home).

07.01.2022 Another lovely card in the mail, this time from Therese. This is why Monday Mailbag is one of my favourite days of the week! If you'd like to be considered for the Mailbag, please email [email protected] or post to PO Box 256, Burnie TAS 7320.

07.01.2022 It's been a bit cold in Tassie this weekend... out here looking for Spring

06.01.2022 The Federal Government finally revealed their idea of an ICAC and well, instead of being a watchdog with teeth, it’s just a lapdog with dentures. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/corruptionhq This ICAC couldn’t look into sports rorts, or the conduct of Adem Somyurek or Daryl Maguire, who are both being investigated by state ICAC’s. What good is it? We’d be better off having nothing at all.

06.01.2022 For those states with daylight savings - don't forget that clocks go forward one hour at 3am!

06.01.2022 Take a look at some of these beautiful murals done at Mural Fest in Sheffield! Usually the event is around Easter time but covid meant the event had to be postponed. I'm very glad they managed to get things up and running - the organising team and council do a fantastic job!

05.01.2022 I'm sure you've all heard of the beautiful Wineglass Bay, but have you ever wondered about the trip to get there? Let me take you on a trip through the stunning East Coast and then the walk up to Wineglass Bay lookout

05.01.2022 That Wednesday mid-week feeling

05.01.2022 It’s International Coffee Day! This is me before and after my coffee

04.01.2022 The Government held on to its ICAC legislation for 11 months. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/corruptionhq Now we've seen it, it's pretty clear it could have done with a bit more time in the oven.

02.01.2022 Look out, it's turning into Onslow's Mailbag! But thanks so much to Tassie business Metz’s Munchies Pet Treats for sending these treats for Onslow - came in handy after he was being a real grump If you would like to be considered for the mailbag, please email [email protected] or post to PO Box 256, Burnie TAS 7320.

02.01.2022 JOBKEEPER CHANGES: Today (Mon 28th Sept) the first JobKeeper extension begins. For this first extension, a decline in turnover test applies, and there are now two tiers of JobKeeper payments for employees. For more information or to learn more about the decline in turnover test, please see the ATO link below:

02.01.2022 The last stop on my August trip around Tassie was the beautiful Huon Valley One of the main towns in the Huon Valley, Geeveston, would be better known to most of you as the setting of Rosehaven. There's a magnificent Visitor's Centre in the town, so let me show you through some of the wonderful things in there!

02.01.2022 Sounding like a broken record, but enough is enough. https://www.lambienetwork.com.au/foreigninterference We have $700mil of coal sitting at ports in China while they come up with excuses why they won't accept it, and we all know the real reasons why. This is why we need an inquiry into the CCP - why won't the major parties vote for one?

01.01.2022 JOBSEEKER CHANGES: From last Friday 25th Sept, the Coronavirus Supplement for JobSeeker has reduced from a rate of $550 a fortnight to $250. Mutual obligation requirements have resumed, and the asset test has been reinstated for some payments. If you have questions about what this means for you, there are several links below from Services Australia that will hopefully answer your questions.

01.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government has announced several covid restriction updates today, including: Vertical drinking allowed from Friday 13th (in outdoor areas only) 40 household guests allowed Potential to bring forward border opening with VIC, depending on public health advice...
