To often we see people restricting their calories and burning out, doing to much HIIT or just over training. YES!! You will lose weight. 22.01.2022 Can you eat carbs and get lean? . The short answer is YES!. However a macronutrient should not be the sole focus/decisive factor of your daily food intake. Yes macronutrients are important as you want to ensure you are hitting a reasonable macro ratio, otherwise you can set yourself up for health complications in the longterm. However you should always be searching for the most nutritious foods then worry about the macros. Remember the end goal is HEALTH and quality of life, ...not how good your body looks (which is really a byproduct that comes with healthy eating and regular exercise anyway). . Very basically, your calories (energy in) and energy expenditure (exercise and everyday incidental exercise [house work, your job, sleep etc]) determine if you will lose, maintain or increase your body weight. Of course their are other influential factors such as quality of sleep, stress and for women hormonal cycles. . So what should you be looking for to get nutritional value from your foods? The simplest way is to try eat as many foods that aren’t in a packet, meaning eat more plant based whole foods. We try to simplify our eating habits as much as possible. Try to think how you can get big hits of nutrients in each meal and a variety of foods, for example a typical day of eating for us would consist of something like . Wake up - 1L of water . Breakfast - Green smoothie. Kale, spinach, mango, banana, chia seeds, goji berries, greens and reds powder apple juice or orange juice. . Morning tea - protein smoothie or banana nice cream. Usually smoothie as we are on the run. Alternatively if we have a big day ahead we will make our organic Tofu scramble with smashed avo. . Lunch - lately it has been either our @jakd_fitness chickpea curry or our chilli non carne. . Afternoon snack - some times nothing as we have a larger portion lunch. If we have something it will either be another protein smoothie or greens smoothie. . Dinner - Loaded roast potatoes. Roast your potatoes then load them up with lettuce, nutritional yeast flakes, TVP, sauted capsicum and mushrooms. . Who feels their best when they eat predominantly whole foods ? 17.01.2022 I’m really proud of myself for being consistent. Thank you so much @jakd_fitness I’ve learned SO MUCH. Meal prepping is not some scary unattainable thing that only hot people in the internet do. Eating and training for powerlifting has shifted my mindset heaps instead of just trying to be thin. 12 weeks is such a short time in your life, keen to see where I’m at in a year. . We kept @edgeofaknifexvx on higher calories to maintain/increase total weights lifted in strength training. Tools have been learnt and have been consistently implemented to achieve a healthier mind and body. This isn’t the end of the journey it’s only the beginning. Remember this is a lifestyle not a diet you need to implement healthy habits consistently.

11.01.2022 Being vegan means that you must be protein deficient because all vegans eat are vegetables and fruit . . All jokes aside, we generally get our daily intake of protein if we eat a whole food plant based diet. If you are looking to up your protein consumption and need some ideas here is a list of my top favourite protein sources . . 1. @blessedprotein choc coconut smoothie with frozen banana, activated almond milk and frozen spinach.... . 2. Tempeh. When i first tried tempeh I wasn’t a fan to be honest. Wasn’t until I marinated the tempeh that I started enjoying it. Personal favourite is satay marinated tempeh in my stirfrys. . 3. Organic tofu. Just like tempeh I hated tofu at first but, marinated tofu is a different story. Also making tofu scramble for breakfast if I have a massive day ahead is a great option. . 4. Mock meats. I have recently been decreasing the amount of mock meats as they are certainly not the healthiest option, but they are delicious and if they help people go and stay vegan I’m all for it. They are also a lot easier to take to a family or friends BBQ. . 5. TVP. Lately this is my main source of protein along with my @blessedprotein protein smoothies. My main use for TVP is loaded roast potatoes or tacos. Roast your potatoes line the bottom of the bowl with your choice of salad, add potatoes then add TVP to top of bowl and add your choice of sauce . . 6. Lastly I utilise lentils and beans to up my protein. Best use for these are in mexican cuisine and making a lentil chickpea curry . . Bend only from your elbows and choose a weight that will not compensate your form.... Personally one of our tips for Triceps is to go lighter weight, higher reps and feel that burn the next day . 09.01.2022 Never underestimate the power of the mind when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals. . We always promote daily gratitude and meditation practice into our clients programs. Why do we focus on the mind? When you decide to go to the gym it’s not the body that makes that choice it’s the mind. When you decide to eat the healthy option instead of the junk food option, the mind makes that choice. When you stop pushing yourself to do more reps or faster times when working out, it’s generally your mind telling you to stop. . Our point being that the more positive and focused your mindset is on your goals, the greater chance you have of breaking those old bad habits/conditioning in order to create new healthy habits. Train your mind as much as you train your body and you will achieve far greater results in all aspects of your life.

03.01.2022 How do I get abs? . One of the most common questions we get asked as coaches @jakd_fitness . 1) Calorie deficit; you can’t be consuming more food than you are burning. We always opt for whole foods when possible because we all know the benefits of eating an abundance of fruits, veggies and legumes. Always try your best to get the highest percentage of your calories from whole foods.... . 2) Train your abs with controlled movements. All to often you see people trying to smash out reps as fast as possible when in reality all this is really doing is increasing intensity of tempo but diminishing your chance of activating your core muscles. At the end of the day hitting abs isn’t going to give you abs, it will only build on what you have been given genetically and improve on them. . 3) Focus on what you eat. You will be thinking but this is the same point as number 1 and your correct. This is the biggest determining factor when it comes to abs you can’t be in a calorie surplus and expect to have a crazy 6 pack, it’s that simple. . In summary be consistent with your eating and training, opt for whole foods when possible for overall health and just enjoy the process it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have the craziest 6 pack just remember to enjoy life.
