15.01.2022 HATES PUBLIC SPEAKING. LOVES SPINNING A YARN. I’m definitely not cut from the same cloth as most celebrant’s/MC’s. I’ve always believed that I hated the spotlight. I wagged loads of school days due to speeches and ‘oral presentations’ being due. (Ok, I also skipped plenty of days for other, less justifiable, reasons too.)... But... I’ve always loved to write. I made it my career for a decade. I’ve also Best Man’d a few times now too. And I’d like to think that most in attendance would list the speeches I gave on those auspicious occasions among the highlights of the night. I’ve learned that I don’t actually hate the spotlight. I just don’t seek it. I guess I hate unnecessary attention. But if I care about something, I’ll happily take the stage. I’ll prepare the fuck out of that ‘oral presentation’, and I’ll kick it’s ass. As your celebrant, I’ll be your ‘other’ best man... and your ‘Brides Mate’

13.01.2022 G’Day! Well... the process has been more drawn out than a MAFS dinner party (and probably as painful to watch - just ask @lovelei_weddings )... but I’m finally, OFFICIALLY, a registered Marriage Celebrant. The role is not so much a change of scenery, but rather a change of perspective. I’m very familiar with the ceremony setting ‘cause I reckon I’ve taken part in more than a thousand over the years - from behind my guitar as @jaken.it.easy and part of the Janda Events Fam -... and watched all the best (and not-so best) celebrants do their thang multiple times. I’m definitely a newbie. No doubt. But I’ve done the same course everyone else has... plus have a pretty unique - and very comprehensive - platform of education on the gig. While most celebrant rarely get to see other celebrants in action, I’ve seen loads. And ‘cause I’ve been in the industry for about a decade, I’ve probably been to more ceremonies than most too. Before I was a ‘wedding singer’ I spent a decade as a copy writer in the creative dept. of a large media company... so writing engaging prose has always been my strength - and it’ll be a skill I’ll no doubt draw comfort from when the ‘new gig nerves’ start to take hold. And they will. I’ll make no bones about it; it scares the shit outta me. But in the way that all new things you’re really pumped about do. I love weddings and have always treasured getting to know my couples. Now I’m going to be getting down with them even more intimately. (...did that come out the way I intended?) I’m FROTHING - Yewww!
