23.01.2022 The release of a Red Bellied Black Snake in Bundaberg. I was really impressed by my videographers appreciation for this venomous snake so often labelled as evil, he sees them commonly through this bush and understands that it is their home and just how easy it is to misunderstand these guys. Give me a ring if you need a snake relocated Jake 0484 600 121

22.01.2022 Tonight has been a very sad night. Having to carry out my first euthanasia while being very unsuccessful at first, I will not include a picture of this guy as he was too far beyond repair. Was lucky to spot this little guy too on the side of the road who isn’t making much use of his bottom half. Hopefully get this guy where he needs to be to be able to make a recovery. Both within minutes of each other. Please keep your eyes out and do not intentionally hit snakes as this is a slow and painful way for a reptile to die.

21.01.2022 This was the release of a gorgeous coastal carpet python that found its way into the innings of someone’s car above the front right tire. He was safely relocated a short distance away where he gave an awesome display of his body strength. These guys are amazing climbers and are considered semi arboreal snakes commonly raiding farm sheds or roofs looking for a snack or a bit of shelter. They can be great to keep rodents down but can also be a threat to pet cats or guinea pigs if pets are kept outdoors.

19.01.2022 Hi all, with snakes and goannas already starting to be on the move I thought it high time that I got my relocation service up and running. Ive spent many years attending snake calls with snake catchers around Australia and being licensed and now registered I am excited to provide a 24 hour catching service to Bundaberg and the surrounding areas. I deal with all kinds of reptiles that need to be relocated and am happy to go 6 metres down a concrete hole for a Yellow Spotted Monitor or 5 metres high for an unwanted carpet python, I also have experience with brown snakes in doll houses. Don’t hesitate to give me a ring at 0484 600 121

15.01.2022 Was releasing a few of the more harmless scaly locals a few days ago having a quick photography session and I was lucky enough to spot a gorgeous Lace Monitor basking at the top of a tree, wasn’t until after I took the photos I noticed him watching me.

12.01.2022 Super stoked about this article! Thanks to Bundaberg Now for the kind words.

10.01.2022 Was bloody spewin today after missing a carpet python catch so was extra determined to find the culprit of some odd noises in a roof at Avoca. After some crawling and looking around luckily I was able to find under some roofing foam a pair of mating Common tree snakes, spring has definitely sprung

04.01.2022 Some quick shots I got to get of this gorgeous Red Bellied Black snake before release. Caught this guy from inside someone’s house after he killed and then ditched a green tree frog, not sure why it wasn’t good enough for him. Thanks so much to the barefoot stranger I met at the beginning of the walking track who I asked if he would take photos of me as I never get action shots. Shoutout to you mate! Red bellies are one of my absolute favourite snakes, please oh please, if y...ou have a red belly you want gone give Jake a ring at 0484 600 121 See more

03.01.2022 Released this great big coastal carpet python the other day, this guy was caught out of the gutter of someone’s roof. Because he was so large it was quite awkward for me to get him out so I started by pinning his head hoping he would slide out uncomfortably and we could get it over and done with, but I felt horrible doing this so instead allowed him to bite me about 8 times as I tried to scoop his large body from under the metal gutter. Well mission accomplished, however didn’t help the home owners fear of snakes. He was overall quite a gentle fella but I still had memories of that head chomping on my arm hence the last picture.

03.01.2022 Interrupted this big fella having a feed. Green tree snake eating a Green tree frog in Bundaberg. Oldmate was not willing to give up his meal, he worked hard for it! Vid in comments

03.01.2022 This stunning coastal carpet python didn’t really like the more branchy tree I chose for him but instead wanted to show off some of the strength he had behind him. The carpet pythons are most definitely out about at the moment so it’s not unlikely to run into these guys at home but more often than not they are just passing through, if for whatever reason you may need a snake removed or help determining if it needs removal; Call Jake 0484 600 121

01.01.2022 Bundaberg Red Belly Black Snake in a wee bit of a mood. These guys are capable of a dangerously venomous bite that can deliver myotoxins (muscle targeting toxins) which can potentially cause minor to major muscle tissue breakdown, neurotoxins (nerve tissue targeting toxins) which are capable of causing paralysis to our pets but isn’t recorded in humans. Their bite is not considered to be as dangerous as some of the other black snakes and bites are rarely lethal, usually prod...ucing local swelling and generalised systemic symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea). Tigersnake antivenom is commonly used with treatment for red bellies black snake being a more efficient treatment. Venom is never something you want to mess around with and take your chances with as underlying issues can throw everything out of the window, if you have a venomous snake that you need removed do the right thing and call a licensed professional. Cheers, Jake 0484 600 121

01.01.2022 A few shots I got of this highly venomous, and highly cranky Bundaberg Eastern Brown snake. I didn’t quite feel comfortable getting a shot posing with this guy as I can be quite camera conscious and this guy is no joke, he for sure had me on my toes dancing with him. The eastern brown snake holds the rank for the 2nd most venomous land snake in the world and is responsible for the most deaths in Australia, although these guys have very small fangs and not a lot of venom behi...nd them, envenomating on average 40% of the time. Likely wanting to save the venom for something more useful, however if a snake fears for its life it may dump all it has wanting to defend itself, which is why more people get bitten by a snake trying to kill/catch it than just leaving it alone or calling a professional. The eastern brown snakes bite is painless yet deadly, it can be hard to see the bite site and bites may either have no feeling at all or feel like less than a scratch. The venom itself is a protein made up of pre-synaptic and post-synaptic neurotoxins (nervous system targeting toxins) and procoagulants (blood clotting promoting agents), and possibly (as far as I know unproven) cardiotoxins and nephrotoxins that may be behind the common kidney problems (including renal failure) that come with a brown snake bite. God I love brown snakes, call Jake If you see one. Cheers, Jake 0484 600 121
