18.01.2022 Local charity Samaritans says the coronavirus pandemic has forced it to go online as it tries to gather Christmas donations to help families across the Hunte...r. The organisation runs a Christmas warehouse each year, which allows families to pick out presents for their children. The gifts are donated across the region, with a number of drop off points. But Anglican Bishop Peter Stuart says this year the collection had to change. "For people to offer food and gifts we're encouraging them to go onto the Samaritans website, samaritans.org.au, and there they'll find ways to give people gifts and give people food," he said. Samaritans will still put on a Christmas Day lunch, but in a covid-safe way between 10am and 2pm.
