24.01.2022 What an epic weekend of waves. Saturday morning was on fire with legends past and present charging the reeling lefts. Tom Carroll Paddle Surf (pink board) Nathan Hedge, Matt Grainger, El Capitan Matt Dunsmore, Braden Porra (red board) Davey Cathels, Ben Dunsmore, Josh Yorke and a hundred of their closest friends were, towing and paddling into an almost relentless line up of epic east coast low swells. "After hiking for 2 hours into the backcountry beyond Perisher Valley, the sun was well and truly setting when our group of 33 men found the ICEY mountain wind cutting through layers of clothing. I looked around and thought, 'Are we really going to do this?' . Stepping through the snow in bare feet felt like thousands of tiny blades cutting into my lower limbs and the ICEY frozen lake couldn't have been more then -4C. With a yell from our facilitators, 'Dont be the last one in. Do it for your brothers!' . The group climbed over the sharp rocks that hid in the shallows and pushed into the deeper water. My chest felt like it was encased in concrete and burning at the same time. . As we formed a circle, the initial adrenaline rush very soon changed into a calmness which filled the ICEY waters. Within a minute the water surface became smooth as glass as our breathing control took over. For the next two minutes or so barely a sound was made" . I couldn't think of a better collection of footage to include than from a trip I took to document the Molokai OC1 World championships in 2018.

The COVID-19 crisis has caused enormous stress, anxiety and depression within Australian communities and this has been reflected in a 25% increase in calls to Lifeline. 20.01.2022 An epic couple of days of swell on the East Coast of Australia. Fired the drone up for some kegs with Kieron Prenter, Matt Grainger El Capitan and Matt Dunsmore. After a couple of recent sad losses of some crew on the beaches it was great to see this new energy turn on! The Phantom 4 pro was loving the challenging backlight conditions. Fly it like you stole it. I must have been no more than a few feet above the water on a few of these barrels, sooooo much fun.

16.01.2022 I am back with James Russell Gray from Scratch the Surface 2020 giving a few tips on how to start a conversation with someone when you feel they may not be their usual self and are concerned that their mental health may be slipping. Starting the conversation and our response beyond asking 'Are you OK?' is the key to creating a safe space for a person to talk about how they are feeling.

16.01.2022 I'm heading back into Martin Place next Sat (5th Sept) to help out the amazing crew Blanket Patrol who distribute clothes and food to an amazing community of people living on the streets and sleeping rough, who are down on their luck. A lot of them have had to walk away from various situations with only the clothes on their back. Please PM me to donate clothes and non-perishable food items. Which can be dropped to me or I can collect. Winter jackets, hoodies, scarfs, hats, je...ans, t-shirts, shoes, sneakers, blankets, sleeping bags, backpacks and suitcases are all highly sorted after items. Please see if you have any items you can donate or even you time to help next Saturday. Originally being of service with groups like this was a part of a program I'm involved with called Forging Excalibur with a great guy called Michael Lauria, and now its turned into something I think is important for us all to engage a little with helping others. 08.01.2022 Here's the first little teaser for Scratch the Surface. Reducing suicide around Australia is the laser focus of this project. I was lucky enough to join Johannes Egberts and Breathless Expeditions - Snowy Mountains for an amazing weekend last weekend full of cold water immersion and cold exposure therapy. I learnt a lot about breathwork and the amazing 30 odd men on this journey. I have now officially started on filming for this massive project I have undertaken. What this space.

07.01.2022 I'm three months into a very cool course called "Forging Excalibur" with Men's coach and mentor Michael Lauria. Defining your core values and purpose. This process is actually a much harder thing to get to the bottom than you may think. When you arent aligned with these things life becomes, bland, unmotivated and meaningless. But when you arrive at the stage where you can clear identify this, it opens up a journey of purpose and integrity. 05.01.2022 Nothing like blowing off the CoVid blues by either surfing or watching an epic swell. It doesn't get much better than the cleansing, pulse positive energy from a big Southerly Swell. Saturday provided a great opportunity to blast away the Corona blues watching the power and beauty of the ocean. There was plenty of crew around to put on a great show. Especially the lads out a Avericks which was pushing an easy 10ft on the sets. Well done all.
