24.01.2022 Congratulations to Crystelle Googe, Peta Hebold, Hannah Shields, Blake Armstrong and Isabelle Clarke-Randazzo (absent from photo). The Year 12 students received Certificates of Appreciation for their contribution to Music. This includes Chamber Strings, Symphony Orchestra, Liturgy, Concert Band, Stage Band and Choir.



23.01.2022 Year 12 Graduation Ball On Saturday night we bid our Year 12 2020 class farewell at the Graduation Ball. A huge thank you to Lynelle Maguire - Year 12 Coordinator, for taking on the task of organising the event and also to the canteen staff and teachers who catered for approximately 160 people. Thank you also to the staff behind the scenes who helped make the event great and to the Year 11 Hospitality students who served and cleaned up. A separate post will be made with some photos of the students.

21.01.2022 2020 Kids Lit Awards After winning the Orange Heat of the Kid's Lit Quiz competition earlier in the year, our team participated in the National Final on Friday 23rd October. This year the final was held virtually and there were 13 teams from around the country competing. Our team did well in the 1st round but unfortunately didn't go through to the 2nd round on the day. Congratulations to Lily McDonell, Ivy Hawker, Eloise Milne and Caitlin Atallah for your hard work in preparing for the competition. 20.01.2022 On the 21st of September a team of Year 7 students, ‘The Storytellers’, wrote, edited and illustrated a book to raise funds for children’s cancer research. We would like to say a big thank you to our many sponsors that donated so generously to the project. As a result, our team raised $850. Emma Flick | Teacher

19.01.2022 Last week, Year 12 Geography students spent a day in the Kosciuszko National Park investigating why the alpine ecosystem is at risk. As they went up the mountain, they identified native plant communities, observed the human impacts at Perisher Ski Resort, looked at how the area is managed, and had some fun in the remaining snow patches. 15.01.2022 Last Friday evening, the Youth Mission Team said farewell to their Year 12 members. Unable to go out as a group, due to current restrictions, Ms Lee and Matt Brown organised a fun night in together via Zoom. They gave each student a Gift Box with lots of goodies in them. The night included a treasure hunt, Kahoot and Pictionary.

13.01.2022 Year 8 Catholic Mission Expo 2020 Last Thursday, Year 8 students participated in a Liturgy with Bishop Michael McKenna and Fr Greg Bellamy to mark Catholic Mission Month, and to acknowledge the learning that Year 8 have been doing on Cambodia as the focus country for the Catholic Mission this year. Diocesan Director of Catholic Mission, Mr Michael Deasy, also spoke to Year 8 about Socktober and the work of Catholic Mission. Students at JSCHS were encouraged to wear coloured socks in a 'Casual Sock Day' in solidarity with those affected by landmines in Cambodia. Our guests were treated to a walk around of the school to see the special displays created by Year 8 to start a conversation about Cambodia and Catholic Mission. 12.01.2022 Our Year 12 Maths Ext1 class celebrated becoming the first JSCHS students to complete the new Maths Advanced and Ext1 HSC courses! This year marks the first time in 38 years that students have completed a new HSC course in Mathematics Advanced, Ext1 and Ext2.

10.01.2022 Senior First Aid Certificates As part of their senior PDHPE course, students are offered the opportunity to obtain their Senior First Aid Certificate. On Tuesday, our two classes completed their assessments for this course and are now qualified! Thanks to Royal Life Saving for coming in to assess our students.

These Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the best in vocational training in NSW. Not only do we congratulate our students achievements but also that of their teachers, their parents and those in Catholic education who provide support to the students studying VET courses. They investigated the biodiversity on the site, tested the pH of the soil and turbidity of the water, observed the human impacts on the area, and learnt about the traditional management of land and water. 04.01.2022 Year 8 Grow Your Own class entered a nation wide competition to grow wattle seeds that will be sent into Space (the space station) for 6 months! It is through the One Giant Leap Foundation. The students wrote a 200 word entry on why they thought they should be chosen and enter a promotion video, promoting the "what'll happen to the Wattle" competition.
