05.01.2022 Thought for the day.. Beginners: GET STRONG TO GET BIG! Large increases in strength correlate strongly with a large increase in lean muscle.... To put it simply; as you lift heavier, more muscle is required to complete the lift. When lifting heavier loads, the muscle actively recruits more motor units (Motor Unit Recruitment) to help with the lift. A motor unit consists of one motor neuron and all of the muscle fibers it stimulates. The higher the demand placed upon it, the more motor units required to fulfill the demand, therefore the more muscle fibers (both slow and fast twitch) stimulated. As you progressively overload, more fibers must be recruited to help enable you to lift heaver, meaning the body must build muscle to adapt to the stimulus that is being thrown at it. -More muscle = More strength -More strength = More muscle The most gains are made in the first 3-6 months of training. Maximize these gains by lifting heavy and eating in a surplus! Below is Arnold Schwarzenegger: Champion Bodybuilder, but little is it known he was also a champion weightlifter and power lifter between 1964 and 1968 before he became Mr Olympia. Happy lifting team!
