25.01.2022 Siiiiick! I kinda want one just to tinker with, although I'm sure they'll cost more than a house.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlkCQXHEgjA

24.01.2022 So the government's #COVIDsafe app is out today and I have a few thoughts. In the past, I've been fairly vocal in my criticisms of this government and its track record when it comes to issues of technology, data and privacy. Knowing that the same government who effectively stamped out end-to-end encryption in this country is launching an app to track citizens and their contact with one another does - and should - raise red flags for anyone concerned with their civil libertie...Continue reading

23.01.2022 ? Are you working from home? Having spent the last few years doing just that, I found myself somewhat prepared for the challenges that these last few months have imposed on many of us. That said, recently even I have been struggling with the challenge of maintaining a healthy work / life balance from within the confines of my living space.... This latest video from CGP Grey was a timely reminder to check myself before I wreck myself. If you're also struggling to find the balance - there's some great, practical information here distilled into clever analogy that might resonate with you. Side note, if you've never checked out CGP Grey's stuff before, you're doing yourself a grave disservice. Good luck, Captains. See you all back on earth.

23.01.2022 Fascinating look at some new technology by Epic Games. The next generation of video games is going to be incredible!

22.01.2022 Huge. Many people (including myself) were skeptical as to how the Microsoft takeover of GitHub would go however after a few months, I think it's fair to say that it has been a net positive for the platform. Very interested to see how this new acquisition plays out. From the article: "In the longer term, Microsoft intends to integrate GitHub and npm so that developers will be able to trace a change from a GitHub pull request to an npm package version that fixes it"... ^

22.01.2022 Remember that time Microsoft wanted people to host Windows 7 launch parties....

18.01.2022 Not gonna lie... I am doing #Hacktoberfest primarily due to the rad branding. Kudos to the design team @digitalocean. If you're a code wrangler, get amongst it and submit some PRs for a free shirt (and also to support open source, I guess.....) https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/

10.01.2022 It all makes sense now!

08.01.2022 This should be required reading for every non-technical founder. Seriously. So much great advice and very well articulated. Trying to over-engineer an MVP whilst simultaneously under-estimating the cost of that engineering is the fastest way to crash a rocket ship, imo.

07.01.2022 I really want to like new, open-source Microsoft but it has to be said, developing software on Windows is a fucking dumpster fire. Between crucial tools like Node and Docker treating the platform like a second class citizen and Microsoft trying to app-package all the things, I don't think I've installed a single program since a clean reformat without having to fix some obscure, Windows only issue first. What a goddamn nightmare... ... /rant
