25.01.2022 I was checking out this site today because a resident had mentioned that it may have been a lost opportunity for Council in not purchasing it. Others have speculated that the building might be being preserved? I will remember this site and this day as it was here that I was told that there was 1 case and 0 deaths, thanks to the nice fellow who passed on the good news.
25.01.2022 Last year our community almost lost its residential Aged Care. I worked with local residents many of whom had relatives at Spurway, Warrawee and Rosstown to defend these community assets. I do not believe that Council consulted appropriately with the community about the proposed sale. The only consultation process was to meet statutory obligations associated with the sale of public land. Ultimately the aged care homes were not sold and we remain the proud owners of public ...aged care. We knew there was community confidence in these services and that their care was excellent, however we could not have known that a pandemic was on its way or that public aged care would stand in stark contrast to the private sector as safe aged care. Consultation and transparency are fundamental to good governance and if elected I pledge to do all I can to delver these for the people of Glen Eira.

25.01.2022 Here’s a bit more about me. Thanks to everyone who has helped out by liking and sharing this page. It’s hard to get a message out in a lockdown.
24.01.2022 The dogs of Caulfield and surrounds have spoken. They have loved lock down, more walks and companionship than ever and they have been able to practice their fine art of managing the mental health of their human companions. I have had huge dog envy and have been combing the adopt a dog pages for months. Meeting your loyal companions while letterboxing has been delightful. Attention and exercise certainly seems to enhance their behaviour. Dogs are a big part of our community and well being and an important function of council is making sure this coexistence works.
24.01.2022 Imagine if the Glen Eira’s Classified Tree Register had not been passed and these trees were still at risk? When Councils work in the interests of community they can achieve great things for future generations. That's why I am standing for Council, to leave behind a better world for my community. Is there a tree you love and would like to nominate to be classified? Take this link to register trees you would like to survive for future generations. https://www.gleneira.vic.gov.au///classified-tree-register
23.01.2022 Thanks to the Glen Eira Bicycle Users Group for posting this article. We need to be identifying ways to support increased cycling in our community.
22.01.2022 This is a delightful story from our community about sharing culture with neighbours and could there be a better way than through food? We have all learnt the value of our neighbours, neighbourhoods and some of the simpler pleasures in life through the pandemic. Such a positive story - congratulations to the people of Chloris Crescent!
20.01.2022 Super inspiring Wollongong! I despair at the amount of rubbish in our streets. Not only would this give people a gardening outlet and produce but might also engender some care for our streets.
20.01.2022 Campaigning can be hard but there are beautiful moments like when Ruth called. ‘Thank you for standing,’ she started with ‘I have just voted for you’. I was so grateful to her for taking the trouble to pick up the phone and call me. Ruth offered to letterbox for me. The support from friends has been fabulous but people reaching out like Ruth has been a real vote if confidence. Thank- you and don’t forget to let your friends, family and neighbours know to send their ballot by Friday.
19.01.2022 To mix things up over the six months of lock down we have indulged in a few nights of takeaways. The packaging has been deeply troubling so we were delighted to find Hendriks Burgers who use recyclable and biodegradable packaging. The pandemic has created an avalanche of waste and finding ways to reduce single use plastics represents a challenge. I believe councils and businesses need to work together to make this change. And free plug for Hendriks their food is good too. https://www.facebook.com/hendricksburgers/
17.01.2022 You’ve got mail..... to send! Please find that ballot paper on the kitchen bench, complete it and send. Plan to do it today to avoid a fine. Your ballot must be posted by Friday the 23rd to be valid!
16.01.2022 Ready to work for the community!
16.01.2022 Here's how to vote 1 for Jane Karslake. I have based my preferences on what I understand to be the priorities and qualities of other candidates and how their preferences were likely to flow.
15.01.2022 Tonight I voted and used my own how to vote card. My preferences were carefully considered. While I am running because I believe I can be a good community representative, it’s not just about me being elected it’s about getting the best team. Please vote carefully.
10.01.2022 In this council election we have only 10 women in a field of 39 candidates standing for Glen Eira. In 2016, there were 10 of 33 candidates. This does not represent progress on gender equality. It is not good for our community. Women’s political participation delivers on many levels research shows when women are elected, we have improved democracy, better responses to community need and a more collaborative approach to creating sustainable futures. In the words of former US secretary of state Madeleine Albright who is now chairman of the National Democratic InstituteWhen women are elected to public office we can be counted on to raise issues that others overlook, to support ideas that others oppose, and to seek an end to abuses that others accept.
07.01.2022 I learnt today about the additional call on local councils for meal support from residents who are not normally recipients of meals. It is important that these services exist to support residents through these hard times. Congratulations to Neighbourhood houses for once again supporting their communities. @nhousesvic
04.01.2022 It was great to meet Anna, partner and their Buns off a back lane when I was out letterboxing Sunday. Anna had lost her job in communications due to COVID and has turned her hobby into an income earner selling flowers through Instagram. We talked about how Councils could support neighbourhood businesses. Anna had just assisted the flower industry with a piece for the Herald-Sun on country of origin labelling for flowers. Thanks for the beautiful flowers!
02.01.2022 Thanks for all the requests for my how to vote card. Apologies for not putting it up earlier. I am taking a break from letterboxing to find some dry shoes. Please share this widely. I know there are a lot of soggy HTVs on your letterboxes.
