25.01.2022 I am holding a press conference today to comment on the QLD-NSW border shift and on the need for a relief package for local small businesses at 11.30 AM. Watch this space for live-streaming of my press conference.

25.01.2022 ***BREAKING NEWS*** A win for our community! QLD-NSW Border zone will be expanded to include Byron, Ballina, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Glen Innes LGAs from 1 am, Thursday, October 1. ... For weeks, I have lobbied strongly for this inclusion and I am pleased to get this done for our community. I shall update when I have more information.

24.01.2022 Great news for the Kyogle community! I welcome the completion of the Kyogle Aquatic Centre Redevelopment, which includes the installation of splash park and water play equipment, modification of pool amenities, upgrade of solar PV system andupgrade of the disabled access ramp to the medium sized pool. It is just in time for those hot summer days ... This redevelopment is jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments and Kyogle Council. I congratulate and thank those involved in this project for doing a marvellous job. #lismoremp #kyogle #lismoreelectorate #gettingthingsdone #community

23.01.2022 Congratulations Tina Cherian for receiving the NSW Government Local Achievement Award, as part of the 2021 NSW Seniors Festival. Tina worked at the Murwillumbah Hospital as a Midwife also ‘dabbled’ in patchwork, which became more than a hobby when she opened Moo Moo Stitches. She is officially retired but has a quilting machine and quilts other people’s projects and for a number of Charites. She donates quilts to the Murwillumbah Palliative Care for fundraising and to ...4CRB, which passes on the quilts to families that have experienced tragedies or uses the quilts for fundraising. With a friend at a Sewing Club at Heritage Care Murwillumbah, she sewed quilts as part of the Aussie Hero Quilts program. I was pleased to present the award to Tina and to attend the opening ceremony of the Tweed Shire Council Seniors Festival, alongside the Member for Tweed Geoff Provest MP, Tweed Shire Council Mayor Councillor Chris Cherry and Councillor James Owen. To our Seniors accross the Lismore Electorate, I hope you enjoy the various events in your area. I take this opportunity to acknowledge your contribution to our community For more information: Tweed Shire - https://www.tweed.nsw.gov.au/SeniorsFestival, Tenterfield Shire - https://www.tenterfield.nsw.gov.au/event/seniors-week-2021 Tweed Valley Weekly Tweed Daily News ..MURWILLUMBAH MATTERS.. 4CRB 89.3FM ABC North Coast

07.01.2022 Important update and great news! From 1 December 2020, people will be able to travel freely to Queensland without a border declaration pass, unless they have been in a COVID-19 hotspot. 06.01.2022 Labour Day celebrates the eight-hour working day. Groups of workers in the 1850s argued that they should not have to work more than eight hours each day, and th...at they should have eight hours recreation and eight hours rest. At the time, workers spent 10 or 12 hours each day labouring and they worked six days a week. The 1850s brought a strong push for better conditions. A significant part of the push began in 1855 in Sydney. On 21 April 1856, in Melbourne, the stonemasons staged a protest. They went on strike and walked to Parliament House with other members of the building trade. Their claim was for an eight-hour day, effectively a 48-hour week to replace the 60-hour week. The government agreed to an eight-hour day for workers employed on public works, with no loss of pay. 150 years later working people continue to campaign for fair pay and conditions. On Labour Day we remember those men and women who, by their brave actions, made our lives easier.
