22.01.2022 Our operation centre is back up and running from 1 May with a few changes to the COVID-19.

20.01.2022 Nillumbik Council has released its Annual Report 2019-2020, charting its achievements and activities over the past financial year. The document, which was prese...nted at last nights Ordinary Council Meeting, also reports Councils progress against the directions set out in the Council Plan 2017-2021. Mayor Karen Egan said the report was a great summary of the many achievements of Council. I am proud of the work that Councillors and Council staff have been able to accomplish. So much has been achieved for our community in what has been a challenging year for many reasons, Cr Egan said. While it is a statutory document, the Annual Report is also a fantastic overview of current and future activities taking place across every township, industry and community in the shire, and I encourage all Nillumbik residents to view the report via Councils website. View the Annual Report via the link below, and please contact our Customer Services team on 9433 3111 should you require further information.

19.01.2022 For all those out there using this time to catch up on all those projects that you never have time for, and get back to gardening etc., Mitre 10 in Diamond Creek will be open after tomorrow for click & collect. Must be paid via credit card and ordered prior online or over the phone. They will then tell you when to come and pick up what you want or alternatively have it delivered, so you can keep gardening, renovating etc., and achieve something during this time. There are als...o many other businesses in the shire that can still deliver or do the same so keep an eye out on many facebook sites for updates as well as Council website. I know this is a mentally difficult time to say the least for all of us but getting back to nature, or starting a special project might just help at the moment. Try that recipe youve been pitting off. Stay safe and stay home for all of us. Some of favourite locals !

18.01.2022 Just before the second lockdown I was approached by the lovely Chantelle Fowler who is one of ALGWAs interns for 2020. A very challenging year in which to be one. Chantelle asked to interview me about being a female Councilor and this is her result - complete with Covid moccasins! What I look like at home on the farm, complete with chickens, tractor and horses. Before my kids give me grief over this, I admit I wear moccasins at home in winter!

17.01.2022 Testing station now open next to Council.

17.01.2022 Dont miss out tomorrow on the announcements of the winners of the Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Writing to be announced live at 2.00pm.

Nillumbik Shire Council is in the process of applying for a number of positions for short-term staff, fully funded by the State Government. 08.01.2022 Fabulous new for a change in these difficult times. Nillumbik has been successful with its two grant applications in the Growing Suburbs Fund.

07.01.2022 Please make your thoughts known. I know we have had massive consultation already and the largest response to a survey ever, but some people need more convincing.

07.01.2022 Another fabulous initiative by a local.

07.01.2022 Despite all the negative comments, insults and political interference and electioneering of Peter Perkins, I would like to assure all residents that I am totally against the soil dumping in Chapel Lane. Ive removed myself from the group as its only a political football at the moment with the local dark greens and labor Councilor just putting their boots in. Im far more interested in getting a result for the residents than playing games atm. Also, Im not about to post what Council and staff are doing as its only giving the company and the lawyers a headsup of our intentions. The issue will be resolved, one way or another - maybe with or without VCAT action. The balls in their court at the moment. Have a nice day everyone!

06.01.2022 The Diamond Creek Police Station was lit up in blue this evening in honour of the four Victoria Police officers who lost their lives so tragically while working... to keep our community safe. Nillumbik Shire Council has joined with Victoria Police to pay their respects to the officers Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris and Constable Josh Prestney. The police station was bathed in blue and four light beams were projected into the sky, representing each of the officers. Mayor Karen Egan said joining with Victoria Police to light up the station was a tangible gesture of support and solidarity with officers. Our hearts and thoughts are with the loved ones and colleagues of the officers who died, Cr Egan said. On behalf of Nillumbik councillors, staff and residents, I wish to express our deep sadness at this awful tragedy and to thank all our police officers who each day, selflessly put their lives on the line to protect our community. Victoria Police thanked the Nillumbik community for their support over the past week. Police would like to extend their gratitude to the Nillumbik community for their condolences, support and compassion shown to police during this difficult time. Victoria Police

05.01.2022 Now for some great news! Works have commenced on the first section of Stage 1 of the trail. The heavy rains in the proceeding months has slowed progress a little, but hope to make good progress as the sites dry out. We move into the second section this week. That is bridge 1 to bridge 2 (Rear of 185, 201 and 203 Main Hurstbridge Road.)... Works are still scheduled to be completed mid-December, however we are waiting to see how COVID Restrictions will impact on delivery. Preliminary works on Stage 2 Wattle Glen to Hurstbridge are well underway. Staff are doing a great job in these difficult times.

04.01.2022 Dear Fons, Bill Penrose, and Colleen Hackett. I HAVE NOT breached COVID rules. There has been no contact. If you had any common sense, you would realise that my signs had been delivered to the households straight from the printer. ... In fact, with the response Ive received today from all your attacks upon my person, I now have to go and get another 50 printed. The members of the households have erected my signs. They want me returned! Have a great day! See more

04.01.2022 Press Release latest for support with Chapel Lane. I have also sent off a letter last week to meet urgently with the Minister. As Council has already announced on the website VCAT action is proceeding as per Councils Motions over the past weeks. To ensure the best result, we will not be running the case on social media.

02.01.2022 Tomorrow between 9 - 11am! Remember your social distancing and bring your own bag!

01.01.2022 This morning I went on radio to clarify the situation with Chapel Lane and what Council have done to date. These are the main points - not to be confused with the line going around that we are blaming the state government. There are a lot of amateur planners out there who dont understand the process and that paperwork and evidence needs to be gathered PRIOR to any action being taken. AND it needs to be kept confidential as any year 12 legal student knows. We became aware of ...the issue around the 10th June and staff and Council have been working actively on it ever since. Weve told them they require a permit and theyve not submitted to that. 1. Have issued enforcement orders to VCAT - will take minimum of 8 months. 2. Issued Interim enforcement orders to VCAT - will take 3-4 weeks. 3. Commenced a Planning Scheme Amendment - will take 18 months 4. Applied Interim Planning Scheme Amendment regarding a 100 cubic metre limit in fill within the Green Wedge and RCZ zones. 5. Have initiated load and speed limits - waiting on DOT approval for both - will take unknown time. The ONLY person in the State who has the power to sort this overnight is the Minister of Planning, Richard Wynne. After having several conversations, I know he is a very reasonable person who is more than willing to engage in the conversation, and now we have some publicity, the best outcome is that he will now respond and provide a 20.4 for us to enact the interim planning Scheme amendment. Postscript - we have repaired the roads and are doing so again today, with all costs being recorded obviously. Photo to cheer people up in lockdown.
