20.01.2022 Well it doesn't seem like a year has flown past, but it is time for my Open Studio weekend again. Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August. 10am till 5pm both days. My students will be there doing demonstrations of colour pencil. I'll be demonstrating on the Sunday. My studio address is 6 Tom Gearon Court, Narre Warren North. All welcome of course. Just working on my latest drawing of magpies, Strong darks and lots of personality with these birds. A favourite of mine for sure. Cheers Janet M

18.01.2022 January begins with an exhibition, of course. My "Botanical with birds" artworks are on exhibition in Marysville till the 20th January as part of the Wildflowers exh at MIRA, part of the Tourist information space. What a great space, plus what a fabulous town. Great food, coffee, landscape and art, magic really, perfect for a day out. A great start to the year. Cheers Janet M

16.01.2022 More owls on the drawing board. These barking owls are one of my favourites. A snap of two halves of the artwork, which has three owls interacting. Love the yellow eyes and feet. Another owl drawing nearly completed for my exhibition. Cheers Janet M

16.01.2022 An excellent exhibition just opened at the Burinja gallery in Upwey. The WASA Wild Awards. The opening went well and here's me with two of my three works that are on exhibition. I'm going to be giving a talk at the exhibition at 2pm on Sunday 16th Sept called "Inspiration to Creation" - an artists journey. Stephen Powell will also be speaking. Should be fun and is open to everyone to attend, plus we'll tour the exhibition. Cheers Janet M

13.01.2022 Owls are the latest creation in the studio. I'm working towards my exhibition in Sept/Oct at Town and Country Gallery in Yarragon. Current drawing is of Boobook Owls. Such great personalities. This one is called "Can we help you?"

13.01.2022 Hanging an exhibition can be both exciting and exacting, measuring each one to get it the right height and straight!!!. Marita, Katrina and I have our exhibition open at Fairbanks Eye Gallery, 917 Sturt Street Ballarat. What a lovely space. A privilege to exhibit there. It's such a buzz to see a body of your own work on exhibition and so exciting for Marita and Katrina to have their first major exhibition.

12.01.2022 I have delivered my artworks to Town and Country Gallery, Yarragon. It's a fabulous feeling having the work all framed and ready to show everyone. I'll be at the gallery on Sat 21st for the Opening at 2pm and on Sun 22nd 1pm to 4pm demonstrating my colour pencil techniques. All welcome. Cheers Janet M

09.01.2022 Great news this week, my Waratah drawing has won a Highly commended at the Flora exhibition being held at The ArtSpace on the Concourse in Chatswood. Very honoured, the standard of work is exceptional. Also, the winner and another Highly commended winner were done in coloured pencil as well as mine. Fabulous to see colour pencil gaining the recognition it deserves. Cheers Janet M

09.01.2022 Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've chatted due to computer issues. But some great news. I went up to Canberra for the opening of the World Wide Botanical exhibition as my drawing of Sturt Desert Pea was selected to represent Australia. Very special. Also my Great Bowerbird drawing just won the Best Drawing Award at Chelsea Art Show, Victoria. It's great to see Drawings being honoured. I hope this encourages everyone to keep drawing. Cheers Janet M

08.01.2022 Magic in Nature is now up and on exhibition at Town and Country Gallery. Once again it was drawing to the last minute to get artworks completed and delivered on time. Looking forward to meeting people at my demonstration days at the gallery. Cheers Janet M

08.01.2022 We are half way through my four day Fungi (in colour pencil) Workshop and so far am very excited by what my students are producing. We are doing a different fungi each morning so we can cover a wide range of effects and then working on one image of a Fly Agaric in the afternoon, hoping to finish it in four days. Here's some of my students work so far. I just love the purple fungi, but then purple is my favourite colour. Cheers Janet M

07.01.2022 My exhibition at the Bunjil Art Space, in the new library started yesterday. It's a fabulous space for Narre Warren, and the exhibition continues until the 7th May, a great length of time. Along with my artworks that are for sale, I am exhibiting my stamp designs that Australia Post commissioned as well as my echidna drawing that won the award at the New York State Museum exh "Focus on Nature". It is such a fascinating place and the very special birds and animals that you see there are just unforgettable, like the Frigate birds and the Sally lightfoot crabs. My talk is for Wildlife Art Society of Australasia and being held on Tuesday 19th March at the Box Hill Library in the upstairs meeting room. Starts at 7.30pm. Visitors welcome. Cheers Janet M Here's two of my artworks, inspired by my trip.

02.01.2022 Barn owls are pale birds, so I am making sure that they stand out on the white background. Work in progress, another owl artwork for my exhibition. Loved creating the different expressions with these three. Cheers Janet M
