25.01.2022 My heart filled with joy to bursting point my eyes filled with tears to watch these young ladies use an electric sewing machine for the first time. There reactions were priceless.
25.01.2022 My trip is nearly over and it's funny how the first time I walked down this road a couple of years ago with Wendy's group visit it was so strange and confronting., now it's just another neighbourhood with everyone doing what they have to do. It's sort of a home away from home and I love it.
24.01.2022 There are still so many buildings being rebuilt after the earthquake, and I know I am getting close to Birtamod and the girls at Samunnat once I see the white peaks of Everest.
22.01.2022 You can usually see who is upstairs at Samunnat working during the day by the shoes left at the bottom of the stairs. The ladies making beautiful jewellery are also very busy and working in this terrible heat.

20.01.2022 Well the last couple of days with the girls went so so fast I can't believe it's been nearly 4 weeks. I fly tomorrow Sunday to Kathmandu then leave Tuesday for home.
19.01.2022 A huge Thankyou to Marg Reidy and all the wonderful ladies in the sewing group at yass for the beautiful rugs and beanies. They will be loved here at Samunnat as it gets very cold....nearly as bad as Yass in winter.
16.01.2022 A good busy day today we have achieved our goal of drafting a pattern for each girl, sewn and almost finishing the fitting of each girl. Also sold a pair of our practice pairs to a neighbour and have 2 orders for next week. A very good day indeed.
15.01.2022 Today I realised where the term "sweathouse" comes from.....here at Birtamod Nepal. The girls were fabulous working in the heat they didn't seem to notice but I did. We had a great day though actually making and finishing 10 pairs of women's pants. Designed by the girls and now ready for sale at the markets. Sometimes they sew on their own....sometimes it takes two .....and then sometimes three..... they make me laugh.
15.01.2022 Mayia tried to use the pedal as you do on a treadle machine then once she got going we couldn't stop her. So wonderful .
13.01.2022 Nothing much has changed in the neighbourhood since my visit in January.
08.01.2022 Last day here My wonderful hosts Binod and Kopila Basnet took me on a mountain experience to the tea plantations. It was wonderful and no dust in sight.

01.01.2022 The children at Sonrisa in Kathmandu are loving their new beanies Margaret Reidy . Please thank all the ladies in Yass who knitted them. Winter is nearly here so they will be very much needed.
