25.01.2022 You can’t get a narcissist to agree with you... can you? No

22.01.2022 What is gaslighting?

21.01.2022 Domestic Violence, Family Harm and Abuse is very rarely one-off. It is a cycle of harmful episodic behaviours used to cause actual or threatened fear to dominate, control and coerce another person. It results in isolation and intimidates people at home and work. Did you know this is used amongst a number of different relationship types (not just intimate partners)? Let's be brave.... See what you don't see. Become unforgettable! #dvwork #dvsafer #workplaceculture

21.01.2022 Did you know Domestic and Family Violence harm can affect anyone in the workplace? I have many share with me, "Janine if only I knew - I didn't realise trying t...o get them help would cause them more harm. I was only trying to do what I thought was the right thing. I just wanted to help fix things for them". Crazy when we go to work and see professionals so put together and have no idea what's really happening behind closed doors. They have no choice, they must keep themselves safe and instinctively become so clever at hiding what is happening during their working day and at home for them personally and their loved ones. Why? Because when we reach out to get help for someone without discussing it with them first, we can unintentionally put them at even greater risk of harm behind closed doors, especially when they go home. A much safer way to help is to start by asking someone, "How can I help you", rather than diving right in to get them help. Domestic Violence doesn't discriminate. It shows up for 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in the form of emotional abuse and has done for many since birth. Friday is a time to reflect. Dr Seuss wisely says, "Think and Wonder, Wonder and Think". Take care everyone x #dvwork #dvsafer #mentalhealth #awareness #leadership #wellness

08.01.2022 Tim Wade has created a brilliant new series!! He’s talking with me about Domestic Violence at home and work to help business leaders, work colleagues, family, friends and neighbours know what to do and how to help to reduce domestic violence. Video 1 of 9: ‘the expert and the context’ in this series is ready to watch now. Thank you @Tim for your inspiration and leadership. ... Here is what Tim posted Here’s the first video in my series of 9 videos on Domestic Violence. I think it’s important as DV cases are increasing during lockdown. I’m having a conversation with Janine Lee, a #domesticviolence expert. I actually had no idea how much of an expert she is before I asked for her credentials during the interview (I must say my reaction is priceless). But even better is her content and the importance of the discussion. I think this is such important work that she is doing and right now, people need to hear it. Because right now, people may be locked up at home with an abusive person. And employers, bosses, colleagues, friends and neighbours have a duty of care. And organisations too, because your workplace is now their violent home. #dutyofcare So in this conversation, we talk about what to do if a perpetrator or a victim asks for help, or if a coworker is caught in the middle, or if you suspect someone in your team isn’t doing so well... All 9 episodes are on You Tube. The first one is below. It introduces Janine and the context of what we discuss. Please don’t share this with someone you think is in a #familyviolence situation until you’ve watched the series as we discuss that it may put them at risk. But it’s totally okay to send to your leadership and HR teams (especially Episode 9 - what can leaders do?) as we talk about ideas for organisations. I hope this helps someone truly #staysafe.
