24.01.2022 The Secret Gate (reshoot on the d750)

24.01.2022 Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder... and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself. William Martin See more

23.01.2022 I don’t often post personal things I guess, but here’s one I love. I think you can see the personality of each in this one. (Don’t let the little one fool you though, he gives as good as he gets!)

19.01.2022 Thought I’d share a couple of my folio series projects on this page since it’s something to do right... Sooo, here is the first photography series that I completed in my first year or study that I am really proud of and it focused on the Death Penalty. It’s entitled Just Deserts... In the final words of David Castillo, a man condemned to die for murder, There is no man that is free from all evil, nor any man that is so evil to be worth nothing.... These words really hit home for me. Growing up in a country where the death penalty was legal for many years, and due to the very high crime rate, wholeheartedly supported by many, including myself, I decided to explore this topic with an open mind. Almost 22 000 people were known to be on death row at the end of 2017 and 1 in 10 of those are considered mentally ill. Race and place seem to determine who lives and who dies. Since the reinstatement of the death penalty in the US in 1976, 138 innocent men and women have been released from death row, including some who came within minutes of execution. A long time tradition in many countries, has been to offer the condemned prisoner a choice of their final meal before execution, and it is this tradition that I chose to explore. Their final requests seem to say a lot about the person, their mental state, where they grew up and the things they valued in their lives.

11.01.2022 Liam in the studio yesterday working hard for a living (of snakes & skittles).. he'll be so happy when lockdown is over and he doesn't have to be my model anymore. And so will his dentist.

10.01.2022 Day 1 in Vietnam. Arrived in Hanoi late last night, a vibrant city of 7 million people and 10 million motorcycles. Families of 5 squeeze onto the bikes and zoom along within the crazy sea. People carry flowers, groceries, huge boxes, dogs, garden equipment, grandparents, mannequins and whatever along with them as they navigate the chaos. In this city they give tourists lessons on how to cross the road. It’s a real sensory overload but interspersed with intense moments of peace. Like this moment with this lady.

09.01.2022 Had a sneaky visitor in my studio yesterday, shhhhhh (I will have a few of the Covid safe Santa shots available and included as part of my Christmas package, look for new details in the next couple of day as hopefully we will be able to start planning actual shoots very soon) x
