15.01.2022 A great way to improve your posture is to strengthen your back and shoulder muscles. Aaron is demonstrating a resistance band row movement, that works the back of your arm and muscles surrounding the shoulder blade. You could make this exercise harder by stepping further away from the door or increasing the resistance level of the band.

14.01.2022 "Harvard Health says that stretching helps muscles with flexibility and strength and maintains a range of motion in the joints. As many of us are sitting more and moving less, our muscles may be tighter and shorter, resulting in a sensation of stiffness." Alison - Chiropractor

13.01.2022 Do you find yourself sitting too much? Not sure how to be more active? No time to go to the gym? It doesnt have to be all or nothing! Small moments of movement through the day can really add up. Take the stairs instead of the lift and park at the far end of the carpark to get some extra steps in. Something as simple as brushing your teeth can be turned into a mini workout too do squats or lunges for the 2 minutes youre brushing your teeth. For something a bit more fun, ...put on your favourite upbeat songs and have a dance party in the living room. You can even add in some movement without getting out of bed! Doing some gentle stretches in the morning before you get up can help get your blood moving and muscles ready for the day and at night can help you relax and drift off to sleep. Alison - Chiropractor

13.01.2022 Colds and the flu are caused by viruses that travel from person to person. Although we fend off infections year round, we are more vulnerable during the colder months: the ambient cold may weaken our immune system, and if it makes us spend more time inside with other people, it also gives us more opportunities to trade viruses and microbes Even if we follow these best practices, we can still get unlucky and catch a cold or contract the flu This is why, once winter hits,... many turn to self-prescribing supplements and increasing doses without guidance from a Health Practitioner, which can be dangerous! Research has shown moderate evidence that supports the effectiveness of Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Zinc in preventing and/or shortening the duration of and/or reducing the intensity of cold/flu symptoms. There is preliminary evidence supporting: Echinacea, Elderberries and Probiotics. The KEY is to choose efficacious supplements to COMPLIMENT your healthy habits not to make up for a lifestyle that predisposes you to getting sick. Work on improving these 8 key practices first, then come and have a chat with your in-house dietitian about whether supplements would benefit you. - Dietitian Kathy Ozakovic

11.01.2022 "People think inflammation needs to be stomped out at all times, but it plays an essential role in healing and injury repair to keep your body safe and healthy. Some inflammation is good. Too much is often bad. The goal is to recognize when inflammation is simply doing its job, and when it can potentially cause problems." Signs of inflammation are like a car's dashboard engine light. It tells you that something is wrong. But your response is not to take out the bulb, because that's not the problem. Instead, you look at what caused the light to turn on. Our practitioners can help. 08.01.2022 The advice the registered dietitians in the study gave the participants was simple: Avoid ultra-processed foods made with added sugars and refined carbs, like sugary beverages and snacks, bagels, white bread, and refined flour. Instead, participants were taught over the course of 22 educational sessions how to eat nutrient-dense, minimally-processed whole foods and cook at home more often. ... Successful participants also developed other winning habits, including not eating in their cars or in front of a screen and sitting down to enjoy meals with their family or friends. 08.01.2022 As part of the ACAs new Consider a Chiro campaign, we are asking Australians to consider a chiropractor when it comes to ailments such as back pain, neck pain and headaches. These health issues can also greatly impact your quality of life by making simple, everyday activities difficult to complete. With back pain, neck pain and headaches being so common, most people think they are a normal part of life. It is important that Australians understand all their options when it ...comes to caring for their health and wellbeing. The good news is that chiropractic may offer you a drug free alternative to not only help prevent and alleviate pain, but to promote a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Alison - Chiropractor

04.01.2022 TRUE HEALING TAKES TIME. It often frustrates people when their recovery takes longer than they expected, but this is simply the nature of healing. The good thing about it is that SYMPTOMS typically start to reduce BEFORE the full healing has occurred. The bad thing about this is though that people often think that as soon as their pain has gone, that the problem has gone, which is not always the case. Alison - Chiropractor
