25.01.2022 Lots of uses for this Bush Peg Grevillea tree! Inner bark - draws out poison from snake bite, Our mob would store this at base of tree for quick access.... Bush Peg - the woody fruits split to release the one or two seeds. The nut - can be eaten raw or roasted. Used as clothes pegs and weapon for hunting birds. Kids played slingshot games with it to see who was the most accurate! Leafs can be used for seasoning for camp oven dinner. Flower - nectar for native bees and birds...

19.01.2022 As I sit here looking at my beautiful 5 year old daughter, my mind travels back to the thoughts of my Great Grandmother, Rosie Maytown Palmer, who at this very same age underwent horrendous torture... Rosie as a child was forcibly removed from the Palmer river area by Troopers along with her sister Doris and one other brother. The girls climbed a tree to hide but were discovered. Rosie was struck down with a rifle butt to the face breaking her jaw and leaving life long damage... to her eye. Doris 5 years old, was shot running away (in the leg & limped for the rest of her life). Their mother Mary Palmer (known as Railuinn) and her brother Peter were both shot and killed by the troopers. This treatment was done under The Sale of Opium and Aboriginal "Protection" Act. My great grandmother Rosie, now part of the Stolen Generation, snatched from her mothers arms. Shaken, terrified and despite her emotional and physical turmoil she was then made to walk almost 200km with her sister on a 2 week trail of tears from Cannibal Creek over the Great Dividing Range to Cooktown, a long journey by foot for a 5 year old... She was put on a boat in Cooktown to set sail for Cairns. From Cairns she was put in a stage-coach headed to Kuranda and then onto Mona Mona Mission run by the Seventh-day Adventist church until it closed in 1963. My great grandmother was a traditional custodian of the Kuku-minni people a clan of the Kuku-yalanji tribe. A vast area that includes the areas from the Palmer River all the way to Laura in Cape York. This is my family's traditional, historical and rightful connection to Quinkan Country. Our homelands, our roots... Building a place back out here back on country has allowed my kids to stay connected to their culture, never to be forgotten... Learning how their ancestors not only survived but thrived for centuries, in one of Australia’s most remote and rugged wilderness areas

13.01.2022 This time last year I had the absolute privilege of hosting Members of the PERAHU, (Place, Evolution and Rock Art Heritage Unit) from Griffith University, Gold Coast. The team made a detailed digital recording (photogrammetry) of Magnificent Gallery for conservation purposes. There are thousands of sites like this across the country that are at risk from bushfires, feral animals, vandalism, and development such as mining. jarramali_rock_art_tours is not just about tourism. ...Tourism gives us the opportunity to share. Deeply embedded into our philosophy we’re about conservation. Dr Andrea Jalandoni, Magnificent Gallery North Qld Article from the Sydney Morning Herald: http://ow.ly/ygaC50zEEZy

11.01.2022 The Final Passage, a 3D film about Chauvet, France, is now available online for a short time. The producers, Martin Marquet, Jean-Michel Geneste and Patricia-Marquet Geneste, are good friends of my professor mate Paul Taçon from Griffith University. They are all part of the Rock Art Network (RAN) team. This is the sort of thing they want to do with Magnificent Gallery up on our country. Check Him out.... https://vimeo.com/222375882
