P.S if I took a picture of your hands they will be in here - see if you can spot them and tag yourself! 47 Stories is a series of photographs taken by Jasmine Mick of peoples hands in Rockhampton. What... started out as one photograph turned into a body of work which revealed to Jasmine the beauty and the stories of the hands she was capturing. Almost everyone said, why do you want a picture of my hands, they are ugly. But theyre not hands tell a story. Whether there is a missing fingertip from a long-ago accident, cracked and scarred from years of work or covered in paint, they are real and beautiful. We added quotes to represent the personality of each person and these are laid over mono-prints and etchings of the chrysanthemum made by Nora Hanasy. This flower is a symbol of optimism and joy. We hope everyone can look at these images on the screen and smile, grab life with both hands and experience all that it has to offer. See more

19.01.2022 Does anyone have a wall looking a little bare... A nook in need of some decorating... A office that could use a little cheer? I am planning to start offering prints of my photographs with a pricelist coming soon! The first order will be A2 canvas at an introductory price of $190. They will be printed by a small bush buisness who print and make all the frames themselves! Ive found Ive been using myself as a model more more lately, partly because most of my friends moved away last year. But I have noticed I can be more real with myself. I can stand in my backyard, with my country music playing, my hair a mess, just experimenting and creating. 09.01.2022 I’ve sat on this photo for a couple days now. It’s a self portrait for those who don’t know me too well, that’s me hiding behind the flowers. I took this in a moment when I either needed to cry or do something. So I did something. Taking photos has always been a release for me but as of late my standard flower photos that I could spend hours taking haven’t been enough. Where I could watch the sunset day after day, now seems repetitive. I probably just need to find a new spot ...but exploring on my own has never been my strong suit. Self portraits let me say something without ever saying anything at all. I know I accompany them with these longwinded captions but the emotions that I felt as I was taking them is really what is supposed to be conveyed At least that is what I see when I look back on them. I can take them in the garden, in my bedroom, in a makeshift studio I set up at the front door to get the good light. And I can do it alone and be content if I only for that moment. . In this portrait I so desperately needed to give these flowers a different story, they shed their previous meaning and became only a pretty prop. Something that now sits in the kitchen looking bright and happy, that a curious kitten can play with, that will return to the garden to nourish new growth eventually and not be mourned as much. I would need to take a thousand portraits to give everything that makes me emotional of late a new meaning, a new memory. The very day I took this I found a bag of m&m’s which I just can’t look at the same way at the moment, they make me smile then make me cry. I found a coat hanger still hanging in my car which means absolutely nothing to all of you but meant so much to me. I can’t change everything but for now giving these flowers a new life will do. . I know this looks a bit different to my usual style, but I am kind of loving the distressed look. What do you all think? See more

09.01.2022 Sometimes when I'm feeling lost I create something to try and connect to myself again... I can't say I was entirely successful but it was fun. Also, I know this is not everyone's cup of tea but really, is a piece of art ever really everyone's cup of tea? For those that do like it which version is your favourite?

06.01.2022 Hey everyone, I will be putting my calendar order in tomorrow morning. It is a bit late this year and they won't be here by Christmas but I am hoping they will be here first week Jan at the latest. This year has been a rough one so I wasn't able to get the range of photos I ususally do (surprise surprise there is 2+ sunflower pictures!). If anyone wants one they are $35 (sorry cost of printing has gone up) and I will need payment or proof of before I place the order, I'm not chasing people for money this year. 03.01.2022 You don't have to like them. I didn't take them for you. The you telling me I should smile more, and that they aren't really that good. I know they aren't much more than glorified 'selfies'. But they are tiny little glimpses of me. A self portrait representing who I am on this day. The many emotions inside of me.... A little over a year ago I took a similar series of photos... You don't have to scroll to far to find them because I really haven't posted that much... Only 12 posts on instagram, not even one for every month. You might not really notice the differences but I do. My nails aren't painted, something I used to love but now they flake so quickly I've stopped bothering. I wish I would though. My gold hoops broke, they live in a jewellery box with the ones I broke before. Now I wear rainbows and flowers. I stopped shaving. That's a fun one. A first glance no one would know but it's true. It's liberating, if you haven't tried it, you might not understand. If society doesn't pressure you to shave, you might not understand either. My fringe grew out... Got cut... and grew out again. I miss the little hairs that would frame my face. Instead of sitting on my bed a night I am at my desk in the middle of the day. Feeling stuck... and lost. Trying in vain to write this computer code when all I want to do is throw paint on a canvas and dance around the kitchen making brownies. That's life though? Being an 'Adult'... Losing the creative spark I tried so desperatly to cling to. Taking them felt different too. I couldn't find the same emotions. They were cloudy and different. I guess that is what happens when you change... Slowing growing, evolving, learning. I've written more than one heart-breaking letter. Trying desperatly to hold the pieces togther but ugly crying at 11a.m. when it became to hard none the less. I've visited a friend in a form I never thoguht I would have to do until I was an old lady. That was hard. Is hard. Will never be easy. I've bought flowers and watched them bloom then exist in beauty and slowly fade away to nothing once again. It's an interesting process to watch. There is a sad sense of beauty in watching the last petal fall off a flower. I've also had the opportunity to photograph some beautiful families I just haven't posted them. But I love them and their faith in letting me capture their families. I have connected with some lovely people in the creative community. It has been a hard year but a year of growth and subtle changes. Enjoy my midday ponderings and procrastination in the best form I know how.
