13.01.2022 SUPPORT EACH OTHER This is an uncertain time for all of us, but it’s especially uncertain for sole traders and small businesses. We rely on our customers to pay our bills, and it can be stressful going month to month wondering if we’ve made enough sales to pay those bills, to buy our groceries, to take our Puppers to vet (especially if you’re Jax who goes a lot) when you add into the mix the current issues of Coronavirus, it becomes increasingly more difficult. The virus ...itself isn’t as big an issue as the panic and fearmongering we’ve seen happen in the last few weeks. We get it, we understand and we can sympathise with people who feel uneasy at the moment. BUT, it’s hard to see how we’re treating each other after all the incredible things that were happening a little over a month ago during the bushfires. Where has our classic Aussie Spirit gone! We need to be supporting each other, helping our friends and family, and helping our communities. These are uncertain times, but now more than ever we need to support each other. If you don’t want to go out, you can shop online, if you can’t go to a restaurant, buy a gift certificate or Uber Eats so they still get the money now. There’s a million ways you can still continue to support local businesses, if you can’t buy anything then help them get their name out there! A positive review or even a ‘like’ or ‘share’ of their posts can increase their exposure, and in turn increase sales. In terms of the actual virus itself, it’s important not to give into the fear, instead stay alert but not alarmed, be informed and educated by the proper reputable sources (not social media, breakfast tv etc) and take care of yourself and those around you. We want all of our wonderful loyal customers to know that it's still very much business as usual here at Jax & Co, and until otherwise notified all orders are still being dispatched and delivered within the standard time frame of 3-6 business days. We hope you will continue to support us through this time, because your pup deserves to be fashionable, even in self-isolation. Please be considerate and BE KIND. 04.01.2022 It seems odd for me to continue to post cute dog photos without addressing what’s going on in the USA right now. I’ve had trouble finding the right words not because it’s hard but because there’s so many things I want to say, but I’ll limit it to this... What happened to George Floyd was shocking, but it wasn’t surprising. What happened to Ahmaud Arbery was shocking, but it wasn’t surprising. What happened to Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and s...o many others, was shocking, but not surprising. Systematic racism is real. It exists and it isn’t going away. Racism is a learned behaviour, we aren’t born racist. Children aren’t racist. We learn it. It starts and stops at home. It starts and stops at school. It starts and stops in the workplace. It starts and stops in our communities. And while I don’t want this to be a political post, it starts and stops with who we choose to vote for. I will never know what it’s like to fear the police, the ones we’re meant to call for help, or be scared to go for a run because you might be killed, because your skin colour automatically means you’re guilty of something. To be questioned in your own neighbourhood because someone didn’t think you belonged there. I will never know but I will always be outraged when it happens. It’s easy to stay silent on these issues, to let others do the talking and the protesting, but we ALL have to speak up now and there’s always one event that is the catalyst for change. I hope it’s George Floyd. To every person of colour, we hear you, we see you, we stand with you, always. . #blackouttuesday
