25.01.2022 LIFECARE EVERARD PARK: Are you an Everard Park, Black Forest or Forestville resident? Are you concerned about the reasoning of land for the proposed Lifecare aged care development on Norman Terrace? Tune in to ABC Adelaide after 9am to hear the latest as I head into a parliamentary committee to fight for the views of local people. You can call in and have your say too - 1300 222 891.

25.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET: I never know whether it’s right to smile in Remembrance Day photos. When I asked Plympton Glenelg RSL Sub-Branch Inc President Tich Tyson today he told me Smile, it’s what the diggers would have wanted. With the sun shining, the blue ocean before us and the freedom to enjoy it, it reminds me of what our grandparents and great grandparents were fighting for. And that we have every reason to smile in their memory. Thank you to all those who’ve served and continue to protect our lucky country.

22.01.2022 CAPPED OUT: Rate capping is dead - and the Marshall Liberal Government killed it themselves. The government has walked away from its own legislation, despite Labor offering our qualified support.... Marshall Govt abandons council rates cap pledge https://www.adelaidenow.com.au//01b484566f91327120d760d0f0

22.01.2022 For people in Badcoe, federal Labor’s budget plan is a winner. A universal affordable childcare scheme to help families and stimulate productivity; rebuilding manufacturing in Australia; a focus on renewable energy for our environment and our hip pocket; massive investment in social housing to care for disadvantaged people and rev up our construction economy right now.

21.01.2022 PAKISTANI PERSPECTIVE: Anaya (who turns nine in November) has expertly guided me through tonight’s Pakistani Australian Association of SA Sufi Music Dinner. Awesome to learn Urdu phrases, how to dance Pakistani-style and which delicious dishes are her favourites. Super special to experience an ancient culture through such young eyes.

21.01.2022 Honestly?! How long do people living in the inner south have to wait for the South Rd upgrade. Delay after delay under the Liberals. Another huge missed opportunity.

20.01.2022 First goal to Goodwood Saints Football Club against Rostrevor in the Adelaide Footy League Grand Final. Go Saints!

19.01.2022 COFFEE AND COMPULSORY ACQUISITION: Grabbing a cuppa at South Road’s Patio Coffee Roasters with Yousif and Fraser from Matti Lamb & Associates. They’re lawyers who specialise in compulsory land acquisition. Very informative to chat about the legal rights of local people as our neighbourhood heads into the South Road uncertainty. Thanks for providing expert legal advice to local residents and businesses.

15.01.2022 LOCAL ACTION: Thanks to everyone who joined the Glandore & Black Forest South Road Action Group meeting via Zoom tonight. Well done to Michelle for organising it. It was great to join you as your local MP and hear your thoughts and concerns about the South Road upgrade. There were some important questions asked and innovative ideas put forward. I'll do my best to get answers for you about the biggest road project in our neighbourhood in a generation. It's vital that the gov...ernment listens to local people, takes up our constructive suggestions and tells us what's going on. Next meeting via Zoom is on 10 December at 7pm. You can email me to register ([email protected]) or check out their page for more details. See more

14.01.2022 FAIR TRADE: Black Forest meditation business owner Amanda Goodfellow is among many home-based traders who are excluded from receiving the state government’s $10 000 Small Business COVID grant. South Australian Labor is calling on Steven Marshall to be fair - especially to women, who make up the bulk of home business owners.

13.01.2022 WARM WELCOME: Thanks so much to Trimann and Amarjit from the Indian Australian Association of South Australia-IAASA for the beautiful blooms to welcome me to my new role as the Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs. Email [email protected] to participate!

12.01.2022 Privatising our train network will cost axpayers nearly half a million dollars every day with the money heading overseas to foreign-owned company Keolis Downer. It will cost more to run our train network under private operators than it cost now.

12.01.2022 SOUTH ROAD UPDATE: I’ve just left my meeting with the Transport Minister. While it was good to finally get a meeting, the answers to your big questions about the impact of this project on your lives remain unanswered. Nevertheless there was some useful info and here’s my summary - as promised!... I’m all ears if there’s anything further you’d like to raise with me.

12.01.2022 A PHONE CALL AWAY: It’s the last day of lock down for most of us, but if you’re struggling and need some help (or if you’re remaining in quarantine after the state-wide lockdown) don’t be worried about asking for help. There’s lots of support on offer ....

12.01.2022 In Estimates I asked a series of questions about the ballooning cost of the state's long delayed planning reforms. Here's what emerged - it'll cost taxpayers a whopping $43.6m (nearly double what was originally budgeted) and the bulk of money comes from a fund earmarked for open space. There were also revelations about the flawed public consultation that's now underway, which is very concerning.... https://www.adelaidenow.com.au//0b185b645cca4cf57fef61c841

12.01.2022 SISTERS TOGETHER: Fascinating stories and ample support shared at the Afghan Australian Women’s Association Sisters Event. Great to catch up with my beautiful friend Shazia N Insh too!

06.01.2022 TEAM EFFORT: Handing out face masks at Woodlands Park train station with South Australian Labor Candidate for Elder Nadia Clancy. Some great conversations with people from Edwardstown, South Plympton, Mitchell Park and Ascot Park this morning in the warm sunshine #covidsafe

06.01.2022 While it's good a decision has been made to progress with a hybrid tunnel/road for South Road, there's a great deal of uncertainty in the Badcoe community about what it means for our schools - Richmond Primary, Black Forest Primary School and Warriappendi School, and possibly St Anthonys School Edwardstown. That makes it really difficult for the schools - and parents - to make important decisions. Clarity is needed as soon as possible for my community. 05.01.2022 HELPING HAND: Helping out in the Puddle Jumpers Incorporated Op Shop on South Road at Edwardstown. Couldn’t resist trying on a bit of the merchandise with fellow volunteer James!

05.01.2022 I’ve just given evidence at a Parliamentary Committee that’s looking at the Lifecare development on Norman Terrace at Everard Park. 302 locals have opposed it - yet the Minister has approved the rezoning. Here’s an update ...

04.01.2022 SOUTH ROAD QUESTIONS: I'm taking every opportunity to ask questions about South Road and what it means for our neighbourhood - especially considering the lack of detail from the government so far. I asked my colleague, the Shadow Minister for Education Blair Boyer MP, to ask a few questions of the Education Minister about the uncertain future of our local schools. (Thanks Blair!). Here's what happened in Parliament's Estimates hearing: Black Forest Primary School Network Bla...Continue reading

04.01.2022 WAITE GATEHOUSE RALLY: So just a few people rocked up to protest against the destruction of the Waite Gatehouse on Fullarton and Cross Roads ... if you call about 500 just a few! To shouts of ‘change the government’, people protested against Corey Wingard and the Liberals decision to ditch any possible relocation - and just knock this heritage-listed building down. If you couldn’t make it, here’s a glimpse of how it went down ...

04.01.2022 ITALIAN DELIGHT: Fresh porchetta panini and espresso from the delicious Nonna's Cucina at St Xavier’s after a special Mass marking Adelaide Italian Festival and the sacrifices of our Italian migrants. I’m saving the cannoli for later!
