25.01.2022 Missed out on our recent established fruit tree sale? Never fear, we're restocking for the next!! We're putting the call out now for donations of fruit tree seeds (tropical please). Share away with anyone you know and help us restock our nursery, so that we can sell cheap and established fruit tree's back to you! If you have a donation feel free to drop them off at the garden anytime, just remember to follow Covid safe measures by signing in and out- oh and don't forget to shut the gate!! * If you live locally to the northern beaches and can organise a pick up time, one of our exec's will be happy to come and take them off your hands. 22.01.2022 Hi everyone! New members we havent forgotten about you in reagrds to inductions we are waiting on people to do inductions to be available, as soon as that happens (hopefully in the next week) we can book some times to induct you guys and start running events again with inductions so no one is left out. We thank you for your patience and are super keen to see some new faces asap! We’re hoping in the next couple of weeks to run some raised bed building workshops during some Thursday gardening sessions and on a weekend day too. 15.01.2022 UPDATE: Our local markets are back on, farmers are re-connecting with supply chains and some amazing local businesses have popped up It's time for CommunityGr...owersFNQ to evolve BUT - we are doing one more bulk blueberry and mandarin run next week so everyone can stock up for the winter Ten weeks ago we set out to help our local farmers move their produce when things were tough, and we couldn't be more stoked with how our community got together and made that happen. We have moved thousands of kilos of produce and have injected $22,677.00 back into local farms. Most of our farmers are small-scale family farms and they've appreciated our support immensely. We really want to thank everyone who has been a part of this in their own way. So, in our next chapter we are: Focusing on linking local cafes and grocery stores with local growers, and supporting cafes to calculate food miles and to compost food waste Partnering with The Healthy Hub to organise quarterly fresh produce pop-up markets in Cairns to showcase local produce at the start of each new season. Our first one is at the start of spring on 5 September 2020! Growing more seedlings and will make them available for free at local cafes Support local businesses who are doing an amazing job. Speaking of which.. Tablelands To Tabletop is a new business that has started up to get local produce to our community. Angela can deliver boxes of produce to Cairns. She is also going plastic free She has made a video for us and is very happy to take on more customers who are keen to keep buying local fresh food each week. I know I'll be one of them! Thanks again everyone and we hope you stay with us
