18.01.2022 Have you had your BackFlow device tested? Call us for a quote. We had to replace this double check valve as it failed test and did not comply with Australian standards. These devices protect our mains water supply from contamination or pollution due to BackFlow. Testable BackFlow prevention devices at the property boundary must be installed on high or medium risk properties. These legally require testing at commissioning, after any maintenance and every 12 months by a licens...ed plumbing contractor qualified to test the devices. Backflow is a reversal of the normal direction of water flow in a water supply plumbing system. It occurs when the water delivery main is at a lower pressure than the internal plumbing system (back siphonage). Back siphonage can occur when there is a burst or ruptured water main, or due to excessive demand during fire-fighting operations or other periods of high demand.

16.01.2022 When installing a bidet or hygiene spray hose Two RPZD valves are required, these valves require annual testing. The first valve is for contamination protection, this valve will need to be installed at the property boundary, just downstream of the water meter assembly serving the property. The second valve is for individual protection, this valve will need to be installed at point of potential contamination within the property.

16.01.2022 Always keep your drain inspection points accessible as per watercorp guidelines- it also makes it easier for Plumbers to fix any Drain issues. #jdcplumbingandgas #blockeddrains #perth

12.01.2022 DONT WAIT UNTIL ITS TO LATE!! Does This braided hose look familiar? If you have not had your flexible braided hoses replaced in the last 2-3 years we highly recommend replacing them with the PEX type as they have a longer lifespan than the rubber type. Flexible braided hoses account for 22% of water damage claims in Australian households, with the claims most likely to be for kitchen and bathroom damage. flexible hoses have a lifespan of between five and ten years, and shoul...d be checked by a licensed plumber every two years. These Braided hoses came onto the Australian market as far back as 25 years ago. There are two types of braided hoses on the market, 1) rubber or 2) PEX and they are armoured in braided layers of stainless steel, these hoses replace standard copper pipe installations from wall outlets to taps in kitchens, bathrooms, hot water services and laundries. The number one cause of internal flooding in Australian homes are these rubber flexible hoses. The rubber tube lining in these braided hoses expand when pressurised and the braided layers of stainless steel are designed to prevent this tube from further expansion. If the stainless steel fails, the rubber inner core will expand to a point where it bursts. .

11.01.2022 We had a client with a burst pipe from the second floor toilet causing major water damage on the ceiling of the bathroom below on the ground floor. There where no obvious signs of where the burst pipe was situated, however our skilled plumbers managed to pin point the exact location. The pictures show how the old Hepworth pipes are chased/ bent around the corner of the toilet causing the pipe to burst on the bend, resulting in leaking through to the lower floor bathroom. New Auspex pipes with the proper 90 degree bend have now been installed. Another happy customer.

09.01.2022 We are at the peak of the cold and flu season. Did you know you can get sick from your storage hot water system? All storage hot water systems in WA Require temping valves, these valves mix hot and cold together to prevent scalding. If your storage hot water system is not above 60 degrees Celsius then bacteria such as legionella can grow inside the tank. This puts you at a high risk of legionnaires disease. If you have a storage hot water system and do not have a temp valve, please call for a FREE QUOTE.

07.01.2022 Have you had your hot water system installed by a licensed plumber or serviced recently? Relief valves should be checked every 6 months by the owner / occupier to make sure they are not seized. As you can see in this video by MythBusters capping off a leaking relief valve or failing to replace a seized relief valve could be catastrophic.

03.01.2022 Do you have a Storage hot water system? Did you know you could extend the service life of your Hot water Tank by 5-10 years or even more? All Storage hot water systems have a sacrificial Anode, which should be replaced every 3-5 years to extend the life of the Tank and reduce the amount of Sediment at the bottom of the Tank. Since water wants to attack the steel-lined water tank, a more reactive metal is chosen for the sacrificial rod. The sacrificial anode rod will corrode away completely before the water begins to attack the steel tank, as long as the anode rods are regularly checked and replaced, your tank will be protected from corrosion.
