22.01.2022 One step closer! Finally "the ship sailed", docked and delivered! The joy on my face this morning when this bad girl was being driven down the road by forklift to my carport. 21.01.2022 Timber blinds - my weapon against ugly windows and bad views. When renovating I’ve often been challenged by ugly windows or unwanted views. Unless you are doing a high value and high budget reno replacing the windows is usually cost prohibitive. Bad views like the neighbours trashy backyard or an ugly brick wall are often outside your control . White timber blinds instantly hide your ugly windows and soften a bad view. 21.01.2022 Don't be afraid to refurbish bathrooms if they are in good sound condition albeit dated. Despite being 25 years old this ensuite was in very good original condition. Too good to rip out and replace. What did I do? Well in this photo you are seeing the existing vanity painted in Dulux Lip Gloss. I replaced the vanity top with an off cut from the local benchtop manufacturer. I replaced the cabinet handles with something I found in my shed - they were from Zara Home and had been long forgotten about. I've said it before and I will say it again - if you had told me 6 months ago I would be ripping out brass and replacing it with brass I would have said NO WAAAAAAY! But here we are - brushed brass all fashionable again! 18.01.2022 Transforming the 4th bedroom into my office space didn't take too much effort. Simple things like painting and floor coverings change a room instantly. Of course the lace curtain had to go and the 25 year old holland blind was ditched. I loved finding fun knobs and handles for this house. These little robe knobs are called "wok" knobs. 17.01.2022 I heard the judges on The Block smashing the contestants over not going full height with their shower screens. Happy to say I got it right!! My installer said "It's the first time I've needed a ladder to silicone to the top". Tallest shower screen he has ever done! This shower is 1100 x 1200 - so much bigger than the previous 900x900. 16.01.2022 I bought some linen sheets a few years ago when they suddenly became popular. I hated them. They were not comfortable to sleep on! They got packed back in the cupboard with major buyers remorse to not see the light of day again. Fast forward and I stumble across them. Too expensive to throw out. 12.01.2022 I have always used a cut pile carpet but after dozens of reno's I needed to do something different! . Berber carpets have made a comeback so I thought I would give a loop pile a try! I didn't find the colour I wanted EXACTLY but I am more than happy with this Tuftmaster product. My original choice was a wool berber but at about $1,000 bucks a room I had to say noooo! The ONLY drawback is how much my cats LOVE it!! 08.01.2022 Low budget makeover on this bathroom includes removing and replacing the mirror. But how do you remove a mirror that is stuck on so well it wouldn't even smash when hit with a hammer? Cut the plaster board out! The tiles too - they were well stuck. Plaster board cut out and a new bit nailed back in. The new mirror is larger than the repair so a lot of sins will be hidden behind the new $43 mirror.
