25.01.2022 Packed with nutrients linked to better health, walnuts are also thought to discourage overeating by promoting feelings of fullness. Now, in a new brain imaging study, researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) have demonstrated that consuming walnuts activates an area in the brain associated with regulating hunger and cravings.

23.01.2022 Winter is a great time to commence a weight management program. I use the Ultra Lite program along with my Naturopathic experience because it provides a holistic approach to weight loss and optimal health. Private Health rebates may apply for the Ultra Lite program. Ultra Lite is a Ketogenic diet program that works by eliminating excess carbohydrates from your diet and focusing on delicious healthy, whole foods to change how your bodys natural metabolic processes work. Your body will learn to burn fat to generate energy rather than relying on carbohydrates and sugar as most people do.

19.01.2022 How do you like to move? Exercising is something I always took for granted. My childhood memories are of me racing from a squash tournament and then to a softb...all match nearly every weekend. Sport was my life. It was my source of friendships, goals and achievements and was where I felt confident and self-assured. When I sustained Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in my mid-thirties, my world completely changed and I could no longer exercise the way I always had. I didnt have the energy to get off the couch, let alone chase a squash ball around a court! Fortunately for me a friend suggested I try pilates which was nothing like I had done before. The most significant role pilates had for me was the emotional aspect, which was quite unexpected. Once a week I got to put on my active wear and head out of the house to engage with the world and move! It was such great medicine, both mentally and physically and soon became the highlight of my week. So often we associate exercise with going to the gym, sweating it up, pushing yourself and being the best. Whilst this is awesome if this is your jam, movement doesnt have to always be this way. It can be a walk along the beach with a friend, taking the dog for a walk, going for a bike ride with the family or kicking the footy on the oval with your kids. As long as you find a way to move, no matter how you do it, your body, mind and spirit will flourish.

17.01.2022 All through my years of seeing clients in my naturopathic clinic I have paid close attention to the gut-brain connection ...working with the brain and working with the gut.

17.01.2022 Our bodies are homes to millions of different microbes, and we need them just as much as they need us. Here's a great video that explains that lifestyle changes, such as eating a varied diet of complex plant-based foods, could help revitalize our microbial ecosystems in our gut and across the entire landscape of our body. https://www.ted.com//jessica_green_and_karen_guillemin_you...

07.01.2022 While the researchers emphasized that humidity is not the only factor in flu outbreaks, it is an important one that should be considered during the winter season. Increasing water vapor in the air with humidifiers at home, school, work, and even hospital environments is a potential strategy to reduce flu symptoms and speed recovery, they said.
