24.01.2022 In addition to Show and Tell, children are provided opportunities to present themselves in front of their peers and educators such as karaoke, fashion runway, Jelly Beings News, speeches about topics they are familiar with, demonstrating/modelling performances. Educators prepare the children through brainstorming, open-ended questions and modelling to ensure these experiences boost their self-confidence and build effective communication and listening skills.

22.01.2022 Fun Filled School Readiness Program Allowing the first three weeks for the children to transition and settle in, we commenced the school readiness program, which has seen the children learn through fun filled activities. We follow a well planned curriculum that incorporates the childrens interests and needs. It means we ensure our teaching and learning covers all areas of development (planned) while creating and using resources that respond to the childrens interests (spontaneous).

21.01.2022 Today at Jelly Beings ELC we focused on Chinese New Year. The children had the opportunity to watch a short video called The story of Chinese New Year. We learned that the Chinese New Year starts a new animals zodiac year, the celebration lasts for 15 days till the Lantern Festival, the celebration decorations are mostly red and kids receive red envelopes as gifts. Then, we watched a short video about the dragon dance. We learned that the Chinese dragon dance is usually pe...rformed during Chinese New Year and is said to scare away evil spirits. Then, the children participated in two activities. They were provided with an envelope, red paint, brush and the word good luck printed in Chinese. The children used these materials to create their own red envelope which Miss Patrizia filled with chocolate coins for the children to take home. Then the children were provided with paint mixed with glue, brushes, paper and rice. The children used these materials to create their own rice painting. For our final activity, the children participated in their own dragon dance with Miss Monisha. LOC: 1.1 2.2 3.2 4.1 4.3 5.1 5.2 5.5 See more
