Social distancing aims to reduce potential for transmission and can include avoiding crowds, mass gatherings and events in enclosed spaces, or not shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people. Currently, the only people who should practice social distancing are people who have travelled to or transited through a country at risk of COVID-19 in the last 14 days: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia Italy, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore. People who have travelled to mainland China, Iran or Republic of Korea should self-isolate for 14 days from their last day of travel. Other people who have not travelled to a country at risk of COVID-19 in the last 14 days do not need to practice social distancing measures, but it is important to maintain hand hygiene and practice good cough etiquette.
