24.01.2022 A common topic of discussion in recent times is what Covid will do to the office market with so many people likely to work from home post Covid and businesses likely to implement greater flexibility in their environments by allowing employees to work from home at least a couple of days a week. The implications for our major cities and even suburban activity centres will be huge and planners and the property professionals need to start thinking how to address this and prevent... extensive vacancy rates over long periods of time. I thought this quote from the Prime Minister was important- "The reactivation of our CBDs and office buildings will be an important element of our economic recovery in coming months, and something that all levels of government will need to consider carefully, Morrison said. Vibrant CBDs drive investment, growth and productivity and must be part of our national recovery planning, Will we see residential move into traditional office spaces? Will we see more local shared work spaces in suburban areas? Will the planning system need to revise the current working from home provisions? Is the future of the mixed use zone now more important than ever? There are many challenges from Covid (once we get through the worst of it) and this is just one more. The world needs to become way more flexible and adapt as well as it can. Watch this space.

23.01.2022 Further to my last post the below comments provide strong explanation for the positive growth and which areas are driving it... "JLL director of industrial research Sass J-Baleh said demand for consumer staples and the growth in online retail trade was driving the strong demand for industrial leasing with 50 per cent of transactions coming from within the eCommerce and food sectors. It is the consumer staples sector which has driven the stability of the industrial and logisti...cs sector during Covid-19 and will continue to be the long-term driver of growth, J-Baleh said. I recently presented to the Property Development Network on key factors to consider when planning for new industrial development (many factors also apply to other forms of development) and would be happy to share the presentation.

20.01.2022 With a significant background in the Industrial sector it is refreshing to see this sector continuing to perform so well especially across the eastern seaboard with 89 percent of leasing deals done between April and June located in Sydney and Melbourne. If anyone has an industrial project they would like to discuss please don't hesitate to get in contact. https://theurbandeveloper.com//industrial-demand-hits-five

05.01.2022 Fantastic to be part of a Planning Forum yesterday afternoon for the Property Development Network. thank you Rob Flux from Property Development Network for facilitating. This was a great chance for people including prospective developers with planning queries to ask consultant planners around the country their views on planning matters. Plus it was great for a planner like myself, with over 30 years of experience, to hear from other planners on their views in their respective regions. Anyone out there needing some advice on developing, please dont hesitate to call me on 0422004348. Residential, Commercial, Industrial or just general advice..am here to help!
