24.01.2022 In our Members forum we have Wellness Wednesday. I talk about all things to do with a healthy body or mind. It may have to do with Nutrition, Biochemical or Emotional Health. Ive had so many enquiries lately and I thought I should share a little more about being a part of Jenni B. You don’t just get the session. Here is a little peak.............. Flowing on from last week about Nutrition I thought I would chat a little about the way I coach my Nutrition Clients and I’m ...all about Flexible Dieting. HEALTH should always come first. But it is ingrained into us that Vegetables are GOOD and Cake/Chocolate/Chips are BAD. So what happens when we have some previously conceived ‘BAD’ foods? We immediate think we have fucked up, we’ve made a mistake our results are thrown out the window. But allowing yourself to eat well MOST of the time and still include some previously thought of ‘BAD’ foods will have you sticking to your plan, enjoying the plan and maintaining the plan going forward. Anyone can cut chocolate out of their diet for 6-8 or 12 weeks but what happens after that? Well through my experience as a coach, the chocolate comes out a whole block gets eaten because your think you are going to have to restrict it again and then the diet starts NEXT Monday. Does this sound familiar? But imagine having flexiblity in your diet where knowing some of your favourite foods CAN be included whilst still achieving your results? So stop looking at food good/bad. As I said last week some times things are just good for the soul. So with a proper plan in place you can still have foods you enjoy or thought previously you couldn’t touch in a ‘diet’. We need to stop associated food with GUILT. Realising one piece of cake, a glass of wine or a hamburger doesn’t need to stuff up your plan. In saying all that though, if a food you LOVE eg.. Ice-cream leaves you feeling bloated etc then you need to take a step back and realise maybe this isn’t the best for me either.

22.01.2022 Diet right and you really only need to diet once. My client here has stayed the course and is now reaping the benefits. So many people diet to lose weight and as soon as they get the result they want, they go back to eating how they used to, eat all the foods they restricted and then put all the weight back on plus some. There is no need to completely restrict foods to get a fat loss result. In fact I encourage my clients to still enjoy a glass of wine or some chocolate/ic...e cream. If you can still ENJOY your diet phase you will be a lot more compliant. There is a diet after the diet. We dieted down to lose body fat, the lowest calories we were on in this phase were 1700, we have now built up to over 2000 calories and she is still leaning out and losing weight. 20.01.2022 There are a couple of things going on in this pic that I want to chat about. Hip thrusting and Glute Bridging. Which one should you do? What is the difference? Well the hip thrust demonstrated by my lovely client Kelly is where your shoulders are elevated on a bench. With this variation because your back is elevated there is an increased range of motion that your hips travel for each rep, aka HIP thrust. Then we have lovely Kylie here doing a Glute bridge where there ...is no elevation at all. What should you do? Well there are benefits to both, and it really depends where you are at in your training, injuries etc as to what you should be doing. As much as I LOVE the Hip Thrust some clients will definitely feel their glutes more in the bridge. Also here we are squeezing a ball between our legs. Now, I am a huge advocate of using bands whilst training and feeling the burn however, the problem with bands is they really work the abductors but the poor little adductors get left out. So we use the ball to force the use of our adductors. 19.01.2022 We are NOT a Bootcamp. I’m a Strength Coach. Not a Bootcamp Trainer. You will not be running around ovals, doing heaps of burpees and 100s of reps of exercises. ... I will help you get stronger and moving better. You will not get bulky lifting weights. Ive been trying to get bulky for years and its hard.. So many women want to be ‘toned’. To get that ‘toned’ look you need to build some muscle. A bone does not tone, you need muscle to create shape. To create shape you need to train with resistance. Your body weight provides resistance but you also need external loads which is why I literally have a truckload of equipment. I’m always investing in my clients and I bring the gym to the outdoors. We now have cable machines which I’m so excited about. We have a lot of fun, but when we are lifting we are a serious. I have all levels of fitness/strength in my group, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Im blessed and feel grateful everyday to have an amazing bunch of women to coach.

19.01.2022 Set backs can make better come backs. The other week, I made a post about pull-ups, the correct way to perform them and the various ways you can train for them. After my tough time in ISO, I wasnt able to perform 1 unassiststed pull-up. (Thanks PTSD for rearing your ugly head) It kinda killed me because it is one of my lifts Im most proud of.... So I tried to find the positive out of this, and took it as an opportunity to perfect my pull-up even more. As you can see the yoga block on my head. This stops me from cheating (you know those neck to bar chins ups that people post) and it makes sure I maintain an extremely tight core, no swinging, no momentum. Find the positives in everything, sometimes things happen to teach you a lesson. And these are also much harder when youve snuck on a few extra kgs..... 13.01.2022 Remember the days you would be teased for loving yourself? Im so glad I've learnt the importance of loving yourself. The damage of years of hating yourself takes a toll, and it's something Im so passionate about so I really want to talk about this. I could talk about so many topics where Loving yourself is so important, but for this post, I'll keep it to 'Losing Weight' as that is why so many women seek out my help and coaching. When you are try...ing to lose weight and you have to change so many things, trust coaches, trust the process, getting up early and probably sacrificing some things, that shit is HARD and you better believe its even harder when you hate yourself. Putting in so much work for a body you hate seems pretty silly and the 'novelty' will more than likely wear off, especially if you don't see results in 2 weeks. But putting in the work for a body you love and respect and want the best for, now THAT is so much easier to reason with when that alarm goes off or that meal choice is thrown at us. Loving yourself won't come easy and its an ongoing Work In progress. It has taken me 44 years to love myself, to love all of me. To accept all of me, even those things I don't necessarily like (That may sound contradictory but how often as a parent do you not like your kids behaviour but it doesn't mean you don't love them). When i started to LOVE my body for all it can do, for all it gives me, for all it has given my kids, my family and my clients, it makes putting in the work of constantly working on being the best version of me so much easier and exciting. So get in front of that damn mirror and start telling yourself you love yourself. You are a freaking amazing mum/partner/cook/friend/ employee/dogmum. whatever it is xxx. 13.01.2022 LIke WOW.. 3 Months... She did the work. She didnt make excuses. Was she 100% compliant? No, but she didnt let a bad day take over. Consistency will bring results. ... She started during Covid, she moved house with her young family. These results were not even going below 1750 cals. Some people just decide they want change and commit. She has been an absolute pleasure to coach. We have 2 more weeks of dieting, then we will put her on a diet break. A diet break isnt a free for all though. 12.01.2022 The Lunge is one of my favourite exercises to perform, unfortunately I see it performed incorrectly all the time. This morning we stripped back the lunge (which actually made it a lot harder). We all get excited to pick up heavier things, but there is no point adding more load to a dysfunctional movement pattern. Using the band as pictured I was able to help my ladies to externally rotate through the hips and load the lunge laterally. A very common issue with lungi...ng is the knees caving in (Valgus) especially in a walking lunge, this is a great way to help re train you so you go back to having your knee to the midline of the body. Lunging like this makes you work your stabilises so much more. If you are performing your lunge without stability and or in segmented movements stop adding move load. 09.01.2022 The week that was. I had a really shitty start to the week. My mental state was negative, I felt stressed, anxious and just not my self. Battling through an injury the past 4 weeks was also taking a toll on my body and mind. Luckily I had a chat with my coach and we decided on a new program, I also needed to eliminate the foods I had re-introduced that we know makes me feel like shit and work on managing stress better. Today I woke up to the lightest weight I have in ...a couple of years. So I thought after my session today to see if I could hit a PR in chins. 12 all up with still a slow negative on that last one... I can’t stress the importance of sitting down working out what is going on and take some action. Feel the feels. This could of easily spiralled into a bad week with me missing my sessions. I could of easily said fuck it, lets start again next Monday. But I turned that shit around because my Coach believes I have the GRIT and I’m running with that. 08.01.2022 We don’t always do Conditioning Sessions as I’m a big believer in focussing on Strength. TIP.. we do NOT need to do lots of conditioning to lose weight, and in actual fact sometimes it can be a detriment to our goals smashing our bodies like this. Most women have high stress levels and we do not need to add to that via this type of training. We have one tough Conditioning Session programmed each week. This is the Semi Private training that is carefully programmed to make sure you are advancing and hopefully hitting some PBS by the end of the 6 weeks. During lockdown they all still trained 4 days a week via zoom. ... They are now reaping the benefits. Bodyweight training, or even using lighter weights, can help you advance when its programmed correctly. During lockdown we concentrated on our base strength, controlling movements, lots of Isometrics, paused reps, more volume and slow eccentric training. It is now paying off. Never think you are too advanced for lighter weights or bodyweight training. When forced to, it can really do the body some good. We are NOT a Bootcamp, in fact that term, as a Strength Coach makes me cringe. You will NEVER be running around ovals, or doing 100s of burpees, that is a promise. You will learn how to move, you will get stronger, you will get fitter, but not with unnecessary movements that will h...ave most women crossing their legs and stressing out. I have all ranges of fitness levels, from clients that have trained with me for 8 years to new clients that havent done anything for 10 years. You are always given progressions and regressions for exercises. Please dont ever think its too late to get started. The majority of my clients are between 35-45. 01.01.2022 Im kinda a little shocked with some people in my industry at the moment. As a business owner and Coach, the duty of care is the upmost important factor of my job, always, but even more now. We are bound by social distancing and keeping our clients safe following all the COVID protocols. ... Sure sometimes someone might accidentally brush pass you, and I may have to touch a client to help them perform a lift correctly. But all my stations are set out with distancing, and my clients have been asked not to congregate before or after their sessions. What they do outside of the session is none of my business, but under my watch, Ill run a tight ship. You can see in this picture we are social distancing and what you can also see is all the hand sanitiser spread around. And this is just 1 station. To say Im shocked at some coachs posting group shots with all their clients after a sweaty session rubbing shoulders and hands around each other is really quite sad. I want to keep working, I want my clients to keep training, I want our industry to stay open.
