21.01.2022 What is an Acknowledgement of Country? An Acknowledgment of Country can be a written or spoken phrase paying your respects to the Aboriginal country and elders ...which you are on. It can be a personal or a business acknowledgment. Anyone can present an Acknowledgement of Country. You can use one on you email signature, at meetings and events. Examples: I Acknowledge the Whadjak people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we are gathered. I wish to pay my respects to Elders, past and present. I acknowledge the Whadjak people as the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work. I pay my respects and acknowledge the Elders past and present. An Acknowledgment of Country are your words. There are no rules around how you word your Acknowledgement as long as you cover the Aboriginal country you are on and the Elders past and present. There are a number of people now including "Emerging Elders". It has been requested by some Elders that this term not be used.

16.01.2022 Did you hear some loud bangs coming from Beaconsfield last night? The Australian Defence Force (ADF) were conducting counter-terrorism training in the area. It ...came as a surprise to many residents, and to us, as it was kept pretty hush hush. Weve since followed up and are now working with ADF and local Police to ensure the public is notified next time when training is being conducted in the area. Were told training will take place across the Perth Metro area from July to December. For more info, visit https://bit.ly/2CLewsX. See more

09.01.2022 Be great to have feedback!!

09.01.2022 Kate Walsh continues to bring much needed awareness to WA’s lack of Screen infrastructure in today’s STM This article presents some perspective. The cost of pr...ompt activation of Jones street, which will stimulate industry growth (local jobs) and economic diversification for $8.5m - based on the Screenwest/ City of Fremantle Business Case, which includes renovation, activation & running costs for 5yrs. Funding allocated to restoration of heritage-listed brick kilns in Ascot - $6m. However the article also presents the currently publicly known two production infrastructure options as competing. Voice for WA Screen Industry Infrastructure does not align with this view. Activation of the Jones Street O’Connor site should be viewed as an immediate solution, a critical first step required to build industry capacity and confidence from national & international connections, moving towards a grander vision for the future of the local screen industry. More comprehensive world-class facilities appropriately located that have room to expand are required in order that the local screen industry continues to develop and realistically be considered for and secure large scale productions that the eastern states continually stage, deriving considerable economic benefit from federal funding incentives, such as the Location Incentive Program, that Western Australia has missed out on to date. As a COVID-safe region there is much current interest in WA as a filming location. There are projects that will utilise production facilities at Jones street as soon as activated, which could be within 6-8 months. Any studio facilities proposed to be built as part of a redeveloped Fremantle Port will be years away. As Premier Mark McGowan stated, We’ll do a master planning process obviously and it’ll take some years. David Templeman MLA Ben Wyatt Alannah MacTiernan PerthNow
