25.01.2022 About the Artist: JESSE THOMAS Jesse Thomas has grown up in a household constantly saturated by the creative arts. From his ever growing theatrical endeavours to his constant craving for creation and craft, Jesse has always been making something. He has never shied away from an artistic endeavour whether it was a hand-made journal, paintings, a life sized bear pelt, or a fully articulated gauntlet. For Jesse Thomas as a contemporary jewellery artist, he finds himself born in ...the only era that is not his own. Therefore, he tries to claim his past from the Middle Ages and far before recorded history, all the while creating his future in distant galaxies he will never know. His Jewellery design is a collision of forgotten relics and futuristic devices, working together to describe and an intensely deep and allegorical ancient science fiction landscape. When Jesse comes to making a piece, the method is fluid and ever changing. He thrives in a working environment that contains his own hand made tools and devices, such as an anvil made from a found piece of train line rail. Even though he follows his own discerning design process, events and discoveries happen while making his pieces that make every item unique and special. He has developed several of his own techniques for manipulating the surfaces of the metals he uses to; colour, bleach, stain, and texturize. He exclusively creates unique pieces that are only ever created once, and never to be replicated. Alongside each unique piece of jewellery, is a story he creates. He places history and purpose into the piece, by selectively keeping the jewellery imperfect. While he enjoys just making, he truly thrives when making for a particular person. He carefully selects his commission clients, learns about them, talks with them, and keeps them heavily involved with his design process. Jesse has many creative outlets, from singing and dancing on stage, to painting and drawing. But he truly finds that somethings he can only express through the many long hours he puts into each jewellery piece he makes. Whether it is for a person he loves, a client he respects or for himself.

12.01.2022 "Far Lands" -Military status symbol, holds service record digitally- Sterling Silver, Leather $70 Far Lands was a work that ive had in my head for a while now. So to finally see it physically was a personal treat. ... I quite like the subtle colouring of the top diagonal bars, because to me it distorts the parallel spacing in such a way that you can't really tell if everything is straight or not. Which i find equally fascinating and infuriating. See more
02.01.2022 "Tribal" -Space Nomad Matriarchal symbol- Sterling Silver, Leather. $60 I designed this on a plane flying back from Perth, I had the idea to integrate the leather more into the piece so it was as much the focal point as the silver. After several weaving patterns I found this combination that allowed for a single square in a different orientation to the rest.... Available for Purchase at the Frankston Arts Centre, Davey street. Until the 27th of Aug. See more

01.01.2022 "Arrowhead of Gales" -Thought to be a record of solar wind patterns" Sterling Silver, Leather $90 This particular piece was a lot of fun to make. As the sibling of the other arrowhead i feel like it represents the other side of my style. The surface treatment was a lovely suprise, i was removing the black that i changed my mind about and saw what it became halfway, all its imperfection suddenly became beautiful features. I fell in love with the antiquity it showed me.
