25.01.2022 This morning I went for a 6am spin class- it wasnt the usual instructor so I was like never mind, dont prejudge this dude- just do the class, Im here for me not them.... So anyway not long into the class this guy was on a roll with comments like I can tell none of you are at gear 16 , Cmon none of you are working . Then closer to the end of the class, he gets off his bike (cos as Im sure youve gathered by now that were all just sitting there stationary for the pa...st 30 mins) and just walks around, looking at everyones screens just carrying on about how our watts should be 6 times our body weight - 6 TIMES. I dont even know what that means but its a shitload. Anyway as hes standing around (not on his bike, peddling at a wattage thats 6 times his body weight) and adjusting peoples gears , he says See what a bit of bullying can do! Sure, maybe he didnt mean it or it was the wrong choice of words. But bullying.... Really... Im all for being pushed to work harder and be better but its a group fitness class made up of a group of people with different fitness levels and backgrounds. As much as this whole experience was annoying it made me realise that perhaps its instructors/trainers like him who make women, who maybe arent so fit but want to start training so scared of entering the gym. There are heaps of wonderful trainers (some Ive had before and some I work with) so this is not a generalisation. 23.01.2022 Such a great read! So many people have seen the wonders of following a low(er) carbohydrate diet even just after a few weeks. Many of the benefits have nothing to do with weight. Common side-effects are better focus/concentration, more energy, clearer skin, less cravings and finally feeling full and satisfied after meals. Imagine all the other changes that are possible... Tracey McBeath is a great example of whats possible.

13.01.2022 Gut feelings exhibition got me thinking about how much more variety I could add to my diet. To get a diversity of good bacteria, we need a variety of prebiotic rich foods. An easy way would be to start cooking with some onion, garlic and leeks. Other foods include asparagus /Jerusalem artichokes / radishes/ cabbage / flaxseeds / apples/ banana/ legumes. 07.01.2022 Since going low carb 2 years ago to manage insulin resistance, I havent had a lot of fruit. But sometimes you just want some fruit. I had a pear today and it was delicious. From a nutrient point of view theres nothing special about fruit that you cant get from veggies so theres no real reason to have them. That being said, there are a lot more rubbishy carbs that one can cut out first when starting on a low carb lifestyle before completely avoiding fruit at all cost! 04.01.2022 @wheywhip Not quite sure how this is remotely a protein ball?!?! The first ingredient is condensed milk and there are more carbs than protein per serve. Also, its tiny, this is hardly a snack - its a snack before a snack! Once upon a time, I would have picked this up and thought I was being healthy.
