25.01.2022 Domestic Violence is still far too common, but it was clear last Sunday at the unveiling of the red bench that our community has zero tolerance. Thank you to the organisers and to those who came along. It was a special honour to hear from the Red Rose foundation’s Betty and our own local DV survivor Marilyn, who shared her amazing story. I am simply in awe of her. If you know someone who is struggling with DV, please offer your support. It could make all the difference. With Milton Dick MP

25.01.2022 When Im out and about people often tell me how much they hate hooning in our communities. Now local police will have new high-tech cameras and drones, plus new laws to help tackle hooning. So if the owner of a car filmed hooning says they werent driving at the time, they will need to prove it. The Palaszczuk Labor Government has always invested in police resources and put more frontline police on the beat.

25.01.2022 2020 BUDGET: We’ve just handed down the State Budget.Stay tuned for more information about what this means for our community!

23.01.2022 Lets face it COVID has been tough on everyones mental health. Looking after our mental health is as important to our recovery effort as any other health or economic initiative. At the beginning of the pandemic we moved quickly to invest $28 million in community health and mental health services to ensure we could provide the support Queenslanders need. Recently we announced an extra $46.5 million to support Queenslanders mental health and well-being through programs across the state. Find 5 minutes for yourself to take a look at the new Dear Mind website, someone you know could benefit. Remember help is always there if you need it, like Beyond Blues Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing Support Service on 1800 512 348. VISIT https://mentalwellbeing.initiatives.qld.gov.au/

22.01.2022 There’s no doubt this festive season will be harder for many local families. From today, I’ll be offering a limited run of Christmas care bags to Mount Ommaney constituents who are doing it tough. These care bags will be for those who have lost their jobs or struggling financially due to decreased business as a result of COVID-19. The care bags will be different each time but include things like bon bons, mince pies, toilet paper, hand sanitiser, toiletries, or a selection... of fruit and veges. For those of you who'd still like to donate those items, contact the office on 3737 2120 or at [email protected] or just drop them off between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Otherwise be on the look out for the times care bags will be available for collection or drop off (till they run out). Thank you again to those thoughtful locals who have donated. We really are the best community on earth. (details below) . . . . . . (Care bags are only available to residents in the state electorate of Mount Ommaney).

21.01.2022 Following an increase in COVID-19 cases in Sydney's Northern Beaches region, additional border restrictions will be implemented in Queensland. Anyone from the Northern Beaches will need an exemption to enter Queensland. If an exemption is granted, they will have to go into hotel quarantine for 14 days. From 1am Sunday 20 December, anyone entering Queensland from NSW will need a Queensland Border Declaration Pass. Travelers can apply for a pass online from 8pm tonight.... We are also asking anyone who has been in Greater Sydney or the NSW Central Coast who enters Queensland to get tested and self isolate until they receive their result. We strongly recommend Queenslanders intending travel to Sydney to reconsider their plans. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation in NSW. #covid19au

21.01.2022 Lovely Larysa is a longtime resident of Jamboree Heights, and she popped in to discuss some super fun ideas around how to beautify our area and make it even more community oriented! We are so lucky to have residents like her thinking about how to make our wonderful community even better! If you have an issue or idea that you think I need to hear about, please reach out.

21.01.2022 Can you help Baby Give Back with their Christmas Gift Appeal? This Christmas is going to be one of the hardest yet for many families within the south east Queensland community. Baby give back currently have over 1000 requests for Christmas presents for families we support, children and adults included. It would be incredible if the community could rally together to provide hope and happiness for so many vulnerable families. They will be having our last Brisbane Collection Da...y for 2020 on the 5th December at Storage Choice, Sumner Park from 8:30-11:30am. If you have a cot, pram, car seat, nappies, wipes or any of our other accepted items - we are still collecting these items on the day too to fill out many orders heading out before Christmas. Any questions please email Katie at [email protected] with Milton Dick MP, Baby Give Back See more

21.01.2022 One of the reasons I got into politics is because I strongly believe every young Queenslander deserves to access a world class education. Our local State Schools are integral in creating the leaders of tomorrow and the new senior school facilities at Centenary State High School had the current student leaders bursting with pride! They were thrilled to show their school off and I was extra impressed with the energy efficiency measures that the architectural design included (in addition being beautiful!) Well done to the team involved in this fantastic project I know Principal Mr Brew and the Centenary family are thrilled!

21.01.2022 BREAKING: Queensland borders will open to the Australian Capital Territory at 1am on Friday, September 25. Great news only made possible by another day of zero cases.

21.01.2022 The Vietnamese Womens Association have worked tirelessly over many years to bring their vision for a Womens Wellness Cottage to life. Now more than ever we know how important mental well-being and community support is. So it was an honour to be able to attend the very first tree planting event at the Cottage with President Mai and the committee and my good friend Charis Mullen MP - State Member for Jordan. I cant wait to see what an amazing hub this space becomes for the Vietnamese Womens community.

06.01.2022 WOOHOO Year 12 Final results are in! A big Congratulations to all Mount Ommaney Year 12 graduates. Just this morning, all graduates will have received their Qld Certificate of Education, subject marks and ATAR scores. This is particularly special as these students are the first full cohort to graduate since the introduction of Prep in 2007, the first Year 7s at high school and the first seniors to complete a new QCE system. WOW... After an especially after such a tough year you should be so proud of yourselves and remember that your ATAR score is not the be-all and end-all - one number will not define your future career. There are so many different pathways available for students to reach their goals. All the best for the next chapter - we are all so proud!

05.01.2022 Every day that I’m alive now, and I come across this bridge, I’ll be thinking of him" - Gladys Waters. Gladys’ husband Len Waters was Australia’s first known Aboriginal fighter pilot in World War Two. Len fought courageously for his country, becoming an elite pilot of a Kittyhawk and receiving six medals for his war service.... After the war, Len and his sweetheart Gladys raised their family in Brisbane’s southwestern suburbs, becoming much-loved identities in the community. Gladys, Len’s wife of 46 years until his passing in 1993, still lives in Middle Park today just a few blocks down from the new $80 million Sumners Road Interchange. I was honoured to join Gladys, now 92 years old, to announce the bridge’s official name: The Len Waters Overpass. It’s a fitting tribute for a remarkable Queenslander.

04.01.2022 Last week we observed RUOK Day, a day where we check in with family, friends and loved ones to see how they are travelling. Our mental health is even more important during Covid, so Oxley locals, led by Theresa Rich-Hoyle, came out to #chalkaboutmentalhealth . It was absolutely awesome to see so many locals out supporting this annual community event, the artwork stretched for almost 100 metres! I know this issue is important to many Oxley locals, its important to me too, and I really urge anyone going through struggles with their mental health to reach out for help, there are people who love you and want to listen.

04.01.2022 With so many of us working at home this year, our pets have become a little too comfortable having their humans around 24/7.
