25.01.2022 Bobbi is a sweet little curious 9 month old pup that was brought in by her owners after seeing her swallow something that looked like a grasshopper! Bobbi was gagging and seemed very uncomfortable so the decision was made to sedate Bobbi to assess her airways. Once Bobbi was well sedated, we could see a green foreign object sitting in the back of her throat. We were able to pull it out, and to our surprise it wasn’t a grasshopper, but a long piece of grass! Bobbi was much h...appier afterwards and was able to go home that day after her visit with us. We hope her curious nature doesn’t get her into trouble again! #thegrassisntgreenerontheotherside #jimboombavetsurgery #vet #dogs #puppy #foreignbody #grass

25.01.2022 Unfortunately we are experiencing difficulties with our phone lines currently, due to the storm. Please message the page if you need to be in contact with us. We are trying our best to get them working again.

22.01.2022 With the advent of warmer weather associated with spring, we have seen a number of dogs and cats in critical condition due to being bitten by either brown or red belly black snakes. The signs of envenomation vary, but may include collapse, vomiting and diarrhoea, blood persistently dripping from what seems a minor wound, to muscle tremors and convulsions. If you see your pet with a snake, if possible take a photo of the snake as this will help us determine w...hether the snake is venomous or not, BUT DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK OF GETTING BITTEN. Conformation of the bite can be confirmed at the clinic by blood test, venom isolation in blood or urine and the clinical appearance of the effected dog or cat. Fortunately the majority of animals can be saved with quick institution of support therapy and administration of anti-venene. It is rare to see a bite mark on your pet and remember snake bites are an emergency so contact the clinic immediately if you think your pet has been bitten. See more

21.01.2022 September was a very busy month for us at Jimboomba Vet Surgery. Apart from the seasonal influx of patients with Tick Paralysis and Snake Bites we were please to participate in the National Desexing Network promotion offering 20% discount on desexings. We were proud to receive congratulations from the NDN Team on desexing the most animals in rural areas. With close to 100 animals desexed in the month, we potentially prevented up to 500 puppies or kittens requiring a home whilst the RSPCA and Animal Welfare League are at capacity with unwanted puppies and kittens. We’d like to express our sincere appreciation to our wonderful clients for their ongoing support.

21.01.2022 With the recent onset of the storm season, quite a large number of scared and lost dogs have been brought into the clinic. Fortunately we have been able to quickly reunite them with their anxious owners because they were microchipped. Microchipping is the best way to ensure you can quickly be reunited with your dog and cat should they become lost, provided the contact details associated with the chip are current. So if you haven’t already, call the clinic to get your pet microchipped. If you’ve taken over ownership and the pet has been microchipped by the previous owners, check online to ensure the microchip record has been updated to include your contact details.

06.01.2022 This cute girl is Mia!! Mia is a 3 year old Rotti who presented to the clinic a few days ago for having a fever and vomiting. Due to Mia vomiting, her vet decided to take an x-ray of her abdomen. After an x-ray, it was obvious that she had been snacking or something that she was not supposed to! Her x-rays showed that she had swallowed a few rocks which required surgery to remove. Without doing an x-ray it would Have been impossible to determine what was causing Mia to be so ...sick. After her surgery to remove the rocks in her stomach, Mia’s fever reduced back to normal and she stopped vomiting. After a night in hospital, she was able to be sent home to her lovely family! #vet #jimboombavetsurgery #surgery #xrays #foreignbodies #rocks #rotti #rottweiler #obstruction
