17.01.2022 WARNING!!!... If you get an email or emails like this below (which I received this morning & previously) DO NOT pay the ransom it is not real you're email has not been hacked (although I would advise you change it just for security and peace of mind!) This email and many others are getting around and demanding you pay the Ransom in Bitcoins so they don't release said information.... I REPEAT DO NOT pay this ransom change your password and make sure it is not one that can be easily guessed (which is what a lot of people do!) In the 2nd image, it will show a password that you most likely used recently or in the past which was likely a part of a global hack on multiple websites resulting in Usernames, Passwords etc being leaked online. You will also notice things like "and 2nd part shows the recording of your web cam" and "The hacking was carried out using a hardware vulnerability through which you went online (Cisco router, vulnerability CVE-2018-0296)" If you do not have a Webcam attached to your PC then that is one good indicator it's rubbish they have something on you. Also "(Cisco router, vulnerability CVE-2018-0296)" is a known Vulnerability that was exploited on some Cisco hardware and if you do not run Cisco hardware (modems) then you are fine this is just to scare people and unfortunately people have been caught out by this and paid the ransom. Also, the other thing is that it will look like the email was sent from your own email address which can be easy done by spoofing your email address (making it like it seems they got into your email and sent it directly to you) this is just a scare tactic to make you pay. So to recap... 1. Your email address has not been hacked, But you are advised to change your password just to be safe 2. DO NOT pay the ransom! 3. You will see certain things in these emails that might get you thinking "oh no I better pay up" ignore it! DO NOT pay it delete the email and move forward. Share this so others are made aware and change your password if you feel unsure. IGNORE THESE EMAILS DO NOT PAY RANSOM!
