Born from the inspiration of needing a little bit of sunshine in everything, especially this year, Solar Orbit has Scandi-inspired lines with its effortless curves surrounding the finger and sweeping upwards to hug a transparent orb of lemon quartz. The orb can be rotated around its horizontal access. For flare and fun, there is a patterned band sitting freely beneath the orb. 19.01.2022 SOUND ON! | ONLINE EXHIBITION Katherine Grocott (@katherinegrocott), In Memoriam. Necklace: 2018, 13.5 x 2.5 x 10 cm, sterling silver, X-ray, silk. Cuff: 2019, 1.5 x 18 x 15 cm, sterling silver, X-Ray. $990 for set My grandfather passed away a little while ago. The necklace and cuff are a memorial, testament and celebration of his life. Made from one of the last x-rays taken while he was ill, it is representative of seeing the inner person, the real man. When brushed, the nec...klace tendrils make a unique sound and have a distinctive feel. It becomes a visceral, tactile and auditory reminder of who he was. When the cuff catches the side of the body while walking, it prompts memories of our time together. The sterling silver is included as a homage to his lifelong passion for metal fabrication and the workshop which was a source of instruction and creativity for me. The repetition of saw pierced cuts reflects the precision that was a requirement of his work as a toolmaker. The necklace is designed to look like it is floating on the body, without a highly visible hanging mechanism. The cuff is a firm fit, another reminder of his closeness to his grandchildren. This piece started with inspiration from a piece I made over 10 years ago- an Art Deco inspired Fan shaped hair piece. I wanted to recreate it but with the ability for the graduated petals to be movable. This gives the piece many different ways to be worn. I decided to add a pear Sunstone to the central fixed petal. Artwork price: NFS Inspiration for this piece was easy to find within the beautiful Watercast bell shapes that form so naturally. To give this piece sound I combined 3 Sterling Silver watercast bell shapes connected with wire and separated with sterling silver beads. To complete the bell I added faceted amethyst bead representing the tra...ditional bell clapper. The sound produced from the bells was a delicate ring, reminding me of the fae stories told to me as a child. Fae are of course magical creatures and it seemed only right their sound would sit under the night sky of a Amethyst Merkaba bead. Above the Merkaba I connected a cascading piece of Cuttlebone Cast silver this for me represents the cascading magick from the night sky. Artwork Price $125 The inspiration for this piece came from my childhood nickname Nell Bell. Even today there are certain family friends who call me by this name, which I am very fond of. I decided to take this chance to make a (Nell) bell. ... After rummaging around my studio space, tapping different materials to see what kind of sound is produced, I settled on old steel signs made by my grandfather. I absolutely love using these old red and white signs, especially when the original message is obstructed, and the red letters become patterns instead of words. To retain this painted finish, I decided to focus on folding the bell form and using cold joining techniques to attach the bells clapper. I had such fun playing with the size and shape of the bells, which make their own personal bell tolls. Artwork price: NFS I found this piece of wood near the beach around 10 years go. Im not sure which tree it belongs to, but Ive always loved its long and coned claw-like shape and even after moving addresses a couple of times since then, Ive found myself keeping it close for the pure love of its form.... The idea of the bird caller came to me from another little gadget that was given to me during a primary school camping trip. I dont have this particular caller anymore, but remember this very plain and simple looking object made the sweetest chirping/whistling sound and have wondered on occasion if it was possible to recreate it. Copper, Brass and leather Artwork price:$145 A treasured sailing memory for me is the sound of coral chinkling as every little wave makes the shore. Holbourne Island National Park is 37 kms east of Bowen, and is where I heard this sound whilst snorkelling for the first time, squeezing my husbands hand with joy, as we slid through the sparkling water to this delightfully delicate sound surrounded by colourful fishes, corals and giant clams. Hollow formed in copper and brass these organic tampered metal shapes re-create that chinkling coral sound when worn and played with by the wearer. The oxidised pendant is reminiscent of something you may find beach combing and hangs from an adjustable leather necklace. Katherine Grocott Slider Pendants 2019... 5 x 35 x .5 cm Titanium, Sterling Silver, Machine Embroidery Thread $390 This series of five pendants were made to emphasise the fun and joy of kinetic movement. Inspired from a three dimensional card making technique, two small titanium disks slide along a hand sawn channel. The discs have been anodized to five specific colours on the titanium spectrum and matched with embroidery sewing thread hand spun into cord. Sterling silver rivets and clasps complete the pendant. 08.01.2022 CLASPED | ONLINE EXHIBITION Katherine Grocott Katherine Grocott Red Bead Necklet 2018... 13 x 14 x 1 cm Sterling Silver, Recycled Red Glass Beads ARTWORK PRICE: NFS I made this necklet to match a ring I had designed in a Kinetic workshop. I wanted to keep the red beads as a feature, but echo the lines and feel of the ring. The hanging mechanism needed to be simple and uncomplicated. The clasp was the interesting design problem to be solved. While riveting the beads in place was easy, figuring out an unobtrusive clasp that, hopefully, would be practically invisible, took far more time. The solution was a saw pierced keyhole, combined with wire finished with a flat disk to secure it in place. Artwork price: not for sale... The textures, shapes, and hues of the gorgeous green goodness that springs from the earth are mesmerizing and inspiring to me. It was only a matter of time before they worked their way into my studio. The Green Muse necklace is a collection of polished aventurine beads on sterling silver cable and featured amongst a tumble of sterling silver loops/links of varied sizes, thicknesses and textures. The necklace is secured with a handmade box clasp, flanked by more glossy, green aventurine. Whether clasping and unclasping the necklace, or feeling the smooth coolness of the aventurine, or the movement of the rings in the chain components, interacting with this piece is meditative. The clasp started as a flat sheet of sterling silver before being scored, folded, and soldered into that classic box shape. The insert or tongue for the box clasp functions securely because another piece of metal has been tensioned through being work-hardened. Artwork price: $75.00 I choose to make earpieces for this SOUND ON challenge as they can hang in space and move freely with the body of the wearer, responding to a shake of the head, or the rhythm of the body when walking. The sounds are very soft and will be heard by the wearer as they are so close to the ears.... These earrings are designed to make two different sounds as they are worn. One a bell like sound as the glass moves away and then back to strike the steel plate. The other is a stuttering like a stick running along a chain wire fence. Inspired by the gentle breeze caressing the leaves of the tall Eucalyptus tree located within a stones throw from my studio door. The sounds, smells and sensations of stepping out into our beautiful backyard, never fails to relax me inspiring my imagination. This pair of earrings features broom cast studs which have been ball riveted to form folded leaves. This is a loose rivet to allow for movement of the leaf and the stunning Peridot teardrop bead nestled between the folds of the leaves. 04.01.2022 SOUND ON! | ONLINE EXHIBITION Michelle Stemm (Two Plums), Succulent, 2020, 60cmx15cmx2cm, Matte Onyx, Rutilated Quartz, Nickel Silver, Stainless Steel cable, Sterling Silver. $220 Sitting at day break, drawing the things in my garden during lockdown led me to these interesting little flower pods on a flowering succulent. The shapes began in lines on paper, to cut out paper shapes, outlines in wire and a formed pod. I was trying to capture a garden fairy tinkle in the soun...d of this pendant. Artwork price: $420 This piece started with inspiration from a piece I... made over 10 years ago- an Art Deco inspired Fan shaped hair piece. I wanted to recreate it but with the ability for the graduated petals to be movable. This gives the piece many different ways to be worn. I decided to add a pear Sunstone to the central fixed petal. This added to the feel of the piece being a beautiful moth, opening and closing its wings. See more

We are delighted to share that 'The State of Shine' has come to the Sunshine State, and is now open at @redcliffeartgallery! The sounds, smells and sensations of stepping out into our beautiful backyard, never fails to relax me inspiring my imagination. This pair of earrings features broom cast studs which have been ball riveted to form folded leaves. This is a loose rivet to allow for movement of the leaf and the stunning Peridot teardrop bead nestled between the folds of the leaves. Our lifestyles have changed so much recently due to COVID and for me it has bought into focus how lucky I am to be able to have nature only a few feet from my studio in Thornlands. See more

01.01.2022 CLASPED | ONLINE EXHIBITION Sinead Buckney Sinead Buckney, Moonstone Wings Necklace, 2020, Clasp 3.5cm x 2cm, Sterling silver, Rainbow Moonstone, Chalcedony and Aquamarine beads, beading wire. Artwork price: NFS... A large cabochon Rainbow moonstone becomes the feature part of the clasp in this necklace. The Moonstone goes through the loop, lining up where the small triangles on the reverse meet. You then twist the two sides apart to lock the clasp together. The two parts of the clasp form the completed design of the piece. The piece can be worn in a couple of different ways if desired, such as a lariat or with the wire detail on different angles, changing the design. The open design on the back allows the Moonstone to be seen on the reverse also.
01.01.2022 SOUND ON! | ONLINE EXHIBITION Tina-Lea Hortonn (TLH Inspired), Fae Bells, 2020, 8cm (h) x 3.8(w) x 2cm(d), Sterling Silver & Amethyst Beads. Artwork price: NFS Inspiration for this piece was easy to find within the beautiful Watercast bell shapes that form so naturally. To give this piece sound I combined 3 Sterling Silver watercast bell shapes connected with wire and separated with sterling silver beads. To complete the bell I added faceted amethyst bead representing the ...traditional bell clapper. The sound produced from the bells was a delicate ring, reminding me of the fae stories told to me as a child. Fae are of course magical creatures and it seemed only right their sound would sit under the night sky of a Amethyst Merkaba bead. Above the Merkaba I connected a cascading piece of Cuttlebone Cast silver this for me represents the cascading magick from the night sky.
