Tune in to my IGTV Q&A on Jungle tomorrow night at 8pm AEST in Australia and I’ll answer anymore you might have too This is some film roll from our crazy talented DOP @stefanduscio on the QLD leg of the shoot for Jungle. He was nominated for an @aacta and finally got it this year for The Invisible Man. I think I’d settled into set by now, this was my first ever film and I was among giants. @thomaskretschmann was schooling every damn d...ay and keeping my accent honest, while Daniel was an open book, the guy is incredible to watch - plus @greg_mclean_ would be calling out, ok (laughing), that’s great - but do it better next time. And loved him for that, a director that knows what they want makes you thirsty to chase the tasty pill of finding the sweet spot; guided by these men and @yossi_ghinsberg’s presence on set everything started to sync. @vanessalohcostume had also given me so much joy and freedom in discovering and building Marcus, though he’s a real character; we wanted to be able to draw on inspirations and create the universal character piece that everyone could relate to. Vanessa and her team did an insanely wonderful job. We’d fill our backpacks with rocks, our shoes with rocks and stay that way all day; trying, in our own small way to find the silky tether between their story and our telling of it. 05.01.2022 2020, the year of blood and words. Learning to sit with yourself and the things inside. The loved ones that surrounded you or the ones you missed. Today I was gifted a handmade leather journal and it felt right to capture the hand that first touched it. As an announcement of sorts, I wrote a tonne of short stories in 2020 from life on the road as a gypsy in this wild time. Loss, distance, hope, love, friendship, poetical adventures of a fishing boat, love in a car, driving home naked and more, they’ll all be out by the end of a year in a book not to dissimilar to this one I hold now. Less impressed, more involved. Your life is yours, no matter how where or how it unfolds. Thank you to those that gave me so much this year and to those still giving, I love ya Happy 2021
