25.01.2022 Casual jobs replacing permanent roles, sub-contracting and privatisation has lead to 100,000 local South Australians currently working multiple jobs. During a pandemic, we need to prioritise public health and community safety - and that means more secure work for essential workers.

25.01.2022 Yesterday I wrote to the Premier requesting that extra COVID-19 testing resources be dedicated to out local area arising from the confirmed case at Woodville High School: 1. Mobile testing for students and families who may not have access to private transport, and would otherwise be forced to catch public transport to a testing clinic. 2. A local testing clinic that will accept testing for children. ... I’m very pleased to advise testing at The QEH clinic has now been expanded to include testing for families and their school aged children, as well as additional opening hours. But I’m still requesting the Government provide mobile testing for members of the school community in most need. We want to encourage people to seek testing where directed and where any symptoms exist. It’s important to ensure economic or social disadvantage, or language barriers, don’t stand in the way. As always, please head to sahealth.sa.gov.au for up to date testing and alerts.

21.01.2022 You may have seen Uber out spruiking their own news today. They're claiming to be Australia's second largest 'employer'. Sadly, things couldn't be further from the truth. Uber has spent millions of dollars around the world, including in Australia, fighting to make sure NO ONE that does work for is considered an employee. It means these workers never get sick leave, annual leave, or get paid superannuation. They have none of the workplace rights or protections they deserve.... As we recover from the pandemic, we need more secure jobs. Not a country where the second biggest 'employer' doesn't actually employ anyone at all. 20.01.2022 An outstanding research report into the contribution of Hazara Refugees in our community has been released. Its was fantastic to be at the launch to hear first hand from His Excellency The Governor, researchers, and participants. It's an emotional, raw and honest look at the vibrancy that the Hazara bring to South Australia - a journey from the middle east as amongst the most marginalised and persecuted people in the world. Thank you to Dr David Radford and his team from University of South Australia and Charles Sturt University, and the support from Multicultural Communities Council of SA without which this work could not have taken place.

19.01.2022 Happy National Fairy Bread Day! Did you know that just like the kangaroo and Golden Wattle, fairy bread is native to Australia? So whether you’re a kid - or a big kid - enjoy a slice today. You know you want to!

19.01.2022 It's currently Budget Estimates in Parliament, and I took the opportunity today to thank the Police Commissioner for SAPOL's efforts, and to ask for an update on the situation our community is facing in and around Woodville.

17.01.2022 Thanks Carol for generously supporting the Cheltenham Christmas Appeal! I’m collecting art supplies, small hand held gardening tools, exercise equipment and Bunnings vouchers for the amazing students at our local special needs centres, The Grove Education Centre and Findon High School's The Palms Unit. We’re practicing social distancing in my office and adhering to Covid safe guidelines, so you’re welcome to come in and place your donations under the Christmas tree

16.01.2022 Local football - both the AFL and World Game variety - kicked off locally on Saturday. I enjoyed some sunshine and home ground support to see Rosewater Football Club get a win on the board, while Vipers FC fought out a draw. Playing away from home, White City FC Beograd won and Woodville South Cats had a tough first up loss.

10.01.2022 Workers at West End Brewery have today begun their strike for fair redundancy and retraining support. Their employer, multinational company Kirin, are closing the iconic South Australian brewery despite excellent profitability. These are essential workers who have continued to work every single day of the pandemic - including during our total lockdown last week. Give them a honk if you’re driving past! 10.01.2022 A sombre remembrance of the 87th Anniversary of the Holodomor with the Ukrainian community. In just over a year, millions of Ukrainians lost their lives at the hands of their Soviet oppressors as a result of a man-made famine. Ukraine Remembers - the World acknowledges.

08.01.2022 Great to see to so many local residents in Queenstown and Alberton last night at my Community Catch-ups. I’m very lucky to represent these diverse and caring communities. Thanks to my electorate neighbour Susan Close MP for joining me.

05.01.2022 Nice to be taking a walk around the block - and seeing a few others doing the same. Please keep abiding with all orders and restrictions, including lockdown other than essentials on Saturday. Keep a close eye on sahealth.sa.gov.au and if you have any cold like symptoms, please seek a test immediately. Let’s stay vigilant and alert, no matter how things may adapt from day to day.

01.01.2022 Aren't our essential workers amazing!? Like they always do, they have been going above and beyond to keep our community together. I’ve got a colouring-in sheet kids at home can do, to send their own appreciation. You can download a copy here: bit.ly/3325669 I'd love to send your completed thankyous to local essential workers, so can you send me yours back via the comments section, dm, or email [email protected]?... One lucky winner (drawn from a hat) will win a prize to be provided once safe to do so - and there might even be a prize for adults too!

01.01.2022 Local footy is back this weekend! And after a heavily impacted 2020 season, a full 18 game schedule this year is great for everyone. Really good to be at Rosewater Football Club last night for season launch and jumper presentation.

01.01.2022 I'm going to be in Queenstown and Alberton tonight for my Community Catch-ups. Come and say hi - I'd love to hear about any local issues that are important to you!
