25.01.2022 DUNGOG POST- From seed to garden & onto the plates of our friends at Joeys. Over the last few months we’ve been busy working on creating a sustainable environment, not only for the children but also for the insects and animals around us. Over the last week we’ve eaten lettuce from our garden and watched as the rest of our veggies have grown. Last Monday we noticed a cocoon on our rosemary and have spent the last week and a half observing it grow and change. Yesterday afterno...on our friends were delighted to find that the cocoon was now empty and instead we had a little brown moth on our rosemary plant. During the excitement of our moth, we also had a beautiful green tree frog that jumped up and scared educator Lisa. We quickly relocated him into the garden and watched as he hopped away into safety. Our gardens and environment have created so many beautiful learning opportunities over the last few months and we can’t wait to continue growing fruit and vegetables and caring for the world around us. 25.01.2022 MORPETH POST Today we had a visit from Maitland SES for WOW day, a day to recognise the importance of our state emergency services and all of the valuable work they do in our community. We discussed staying safe in adverse weather, creating a house emergency kit, not crossing emergency tape and how to contact the SES in emergencies. Our friends tried on some beautiful orange costumes as we wore orange for WOW day and got to try on SES helmets! Thank you so much for visiting and for your tireless efforts in our community.
24.01.2022 Today is Early Childhood Educators Day, a day where we recognise and celebrate the work of Australias educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. Today we are acknowledging and celebrating our amazing teams of educators at our Dungog and Morpeth Centres. This year has been particularly challenging and at times stressful and I am so incredibly appreciative for the extra e...ffort our educators have put into out of the ordinary tasks such as creating at home learning packs, the multiple changes to Centre practices and procedures and the massive amounts of extra cleaning, all the while ensuring that every other aspect of their huge role was being completed. Thankyou for everything that you do. We think that you are pretty amazing and are incredibly proud to call you Joeys educators.
24.01.2022 Wishing all of the amazing women out there a very Happy Mothers Day. We hope everyone enjoyed their handmade gifts. From all of the staff and children at Joeys.
24.01.2022 MORPETH POST Thank you to all our mothers, grandmothers and mother figures (and some wonderful dads too!) who attended our mothers day afternoon tea this afternoon. We loved having you here and we know the children definitely did as well. Have a wonderful Mothers Day.
23.01.2022 Dungog Post The staff and children at Joeys Dungog would like to wish the best of luck to all Dungog teams competing in Grand finals this weekend in football and netball.
23.01.2022 DUNGOG POST- On behalf of all of the educators at Dungog, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our families who came to our Easter Afternoon Tea yesterday. It was so beautiful to see so many mums, dads, nans, pops and aunties so engaged in easter craft and egg hunts with the children. After such a long time with families not being able to enter the service, it was lovely to have everyone back for our first event! ... From everyone at Dungog, we wish you all a happy and safe Easter long weekend with your families
22.01.2022 DUNGOG POST I am writing to provide you with an update on the progress works we are undertaking next door to expand our outdoor play space. On Wednesday morning our contractors commenced removing the existing 1.8m front boundary and replacing it with a 1.5m fence that better suits the requirements of the centre as well as install a 1.5m colourbond fence along the side boundaries.... Due to a complaint made by someone within the community we had Dungog Shire Council attend the site and place a stop work order on the site until a Development Application and Construction Certificate be granted for the works. Something our contractors, planner and ourselves were not aware was required. Unfortunately due to this we are going to be delayed significantly in our expansion as council have advised that this application process will take an unknown amount of time. We are extremely upset by the events that have taken place this week and feel that the only loser within this situation is the children. We will continue to update you as the process progresses. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected]
22.01.2022 Morpeth Post- On Tuesday this week, our Eager Emu and Clever Cockatoo friends attended a Water Saving Show by Ship-O-Fools. The Preschool children absolutely loved the presentation, watching as Super Squirt and Bubbles the Water Saving Clown taught us eight useful ways to save water. We learnt about the importance of taking small baths and turning the tap off when we brush our teeth. These lessons are so important today as water is such a precious resource in all of our lives. Throughout this time the children learnt about responsible water use and how to show respect for their environments. What a fun and entertaining way to learn!
22.01.2022 MORPETH POST Thank you to Morpeth Public school for having us today for a Book Talk, where we got to listen to The three little pigs and do related activities. 21.01.2022 DUNGOG POST- Yesterday we had a new friend, Sam, join us for NAIDOC Week. Sam spoke to the children about the meaning of the Aboriginal flag & what each colour represents. They then completed a handprint painting together with red, yellow and black paint. Sam also introduced the children to Aboriginal dance, in particular the movement of the Kangaroo, Emu and Eagle. Whilst we appreciate Sam coming in for NAIDOC Week, we hope that he will be joining us on a regular basis next year as we further imbed Indigenous culture into the centre. We know that Aboriginal culture must be included and passed down every day of the year, not just for NAIDOC Week. Here are some beautiful photos of this weeks experiences so far!
21.01.2022 DUNGOG POST- Another wonderful day of Book Week with so many friends and educators dressed up. With 2 more days left, we can’t wait to see what other fun and fabulous costumes our friends will surprise us with!

20.01.2022 Dungog Post - Visit To Dungog Pizza On Wednesday the Wombat friends were incredibly lucky to visit Dungog Pizza. The children walked from the centre to the pizza shop. Upon arrival they were spilt into animal groups and made their very own pizzas. The process commenced with spreading the sauce over the pizza base, then adding the ingredients on top. Finally the children were able to watch the pizza get cooked by moving through the pizza oven. This was a great learning experience and the children and educators all had an amazing time. We would like to say a massive thank you to Natalie and Duncan and the team from Dungog Pizza in particular their smallest helpers Harper and Ethan who were incredibly patient with the pre-school children assisting them and demonstrating to them the correct way to complete each step.
20.01.2022 DUNGOG POST- Weve had a very busy week at Dungog with lots of changes happening next door. Our fencing was completed first, giving the children a beautiful view of our new block. Next, our cubby house and veggie gardens were moved into position to create some beautiful play spaces for the children. A pad has been flattened & is now almost ready for our chicken coop to arrive and the posts for our shade sail have been put in. We have also planted some beautiful new fruit tre...es including apples and mandarins which will one day create an orchard around our vegetable gardens. The children also assisted in planting some seeds including lettuce, spinach, onion, broccoli and carrot. We hope that by planting our seeds now, we can transfer them over to our vegetable gardens once theyre more established. Whilst we are yet to finalise a completion date for our new yard, we know that each new step brings us closer to enjoying this amazing new space. See more
