24.01.2022 A project for a tropical family house in Sarawak Part Two. It was to be constructed with prefabricated EPS ferro-cement panels for the walls and roof to a steel frame, with timber floors. Our prototyping showed promise.

23.01.2022 A project for a tropical family house in Sarawak Part One. The design provided for sheltered outdoor living and cross ventilation to all rooms. A moat separated the garden from the house, to help cool the air. One air-conditioned suite was provided for respite during haze season.

11.01.2022 John Ting is giving a talk on his upcoming book at 9:00am in Kuching this Saturday - fill in the form below and email to register for catering purposes. You can pay on the day, please get there by 8:30am to complete payment etc.. 'The architecture of Sarawak before 1963' The significance of Sarawak’s architecture and settlements has been in established in many fields of study such as history, political science, anthropology, economics and geography. However, to date, the arch...itectural history of the state has been largely under-represented by Malaysian architectural historiography, and is not included in architectural history courses in architectural programs locally or overseas. In 2009, PAM SC initiated a research program to begin to address this gap, by commissioning John Ting to write a history of architecture in Sarawak. The book (now close to completion), critically analyses the architecture and settlement patterns of Sarawak from James Brooke’s first visit until Malaysia was formed, and has four main chapters. This presentation previews this upcoming book. See more

08.01.2022 Our latest project - alterations and additions to a double-fronted Victorian house in Castlemaine with a compact budget. We used Colorbond/EPS sandwich panels for external walls and roof, and OSB/EPS sandwich panels for the floors and internal walls. The Colorbond was left exposed internally to save on plasterboard, and the extension floors were painted with floor paint. The new works included a bedroom, 2 bathrooms, laundry, kitchen/dining and deck. There was also some rectification works to the existing house, including new guttering, insulation, some windows and cladding.
