25.01.2022 Red Gum kitchen in mud brick house. Built around 25 years ago.

24.01.2022 Faced with the situation of building L shaped staircases which required a balustrade to the second flight, I came up with a method that I had never seen before.... As you can see the lower flight of stairs end under the landing, just short of the corner post. Around the corner in the top flight of stairs the balustrade continues outside of the landing corner post. If you are an architect, designer or staircase builder, I invite you to have a go at explaining how I tied this in with the internal winder of the stairs at the same time. As you can see. The balustrade on the landing follows the outside of the landing. The upper stair balustrade is beside the corner posts of the landing which is of coarse the only way this could be done. But how then to do this have I connected the winder to the post? See more

24.01.2022 Stage two at St Joseph's now complete. Time to reflect.

23.01.2022 The first stage of the fittings at St Joseph's Parish is up and running. The collaboration between all parties involved has gone very well. Next stage is almos...t ready being near 8 metres long. It will be the showpiece. Everybody seems happy which means I am happy. Merry Christmas to Donna Monaghan, project supervisor and overall designer in chief. Working off the stone pillars of the church as inspiration I replicated the corner posts of the Audio and Visual desk as best I could. Merry Christmas to all involved. See more

21.01.2022 Some photos of my door after dark taken by Les and Jase Lockland.

21.01.2022 Irregular interruptions to my regular interruptions returned me to finishing these Huon pine slabs for a table. It is up to the client who has lots of time deci...ding what to do now before I go further but possibly something like the finished table may work with a strip of Australian Cedar up the middle. Huon Pine comes from Tasmania. It is oily and has been ideal for boat building in the past. I heard or read that the Mother tree has been identified in the mountains there, estimated to be 5,500 years old. If such trees had wisdom to share, I would be there.

21.01.2022 A book case that I built some years ago now. Tasmanian Blackwood.

20.01.2022 This little Dutch Tea Server's Cabinet came to me literally falling apart. I prized the pieces apart, cleaned away the old glue and finish and reassembled it. ...Had to replace top/bottom shelves as they were eaten away by borers and also replaced the tray handles as one of the originals was missing. Friend Jack Webb from Henna St picture framing gifted me the required replacement glass. Thanks Jack. And Andrea lent out some of her crockery as well for the photos. Thanks Andrea. See more

19.01.2022 This is a Messmate kitchen with Ironbark bench tops, all reclaimed timbers. In the old Apothecary in Port Fairy. Similar time and style that I was having a run in Redgum kitchens, 25 or so years ago.

18.01.2022 Almost finished trimming my new front door. I need a good photographer to take some decent photos but these will do for now. Wayne Cook did the Leadlighting. Ho...w good is he? Waynes number 0417 512 985. I came to Wayne with ideas about what I wanted and he delivered big time. See more

17.01.2022 After allowing the saturation coat to dry for three weeks, today I rubbed back and applied the second coat of oil to this Huon Pine table. The grain is just amazing.

15.01.2022 Finally starting to assemble the components of this blessed thing. The only way to assemble the desk without having exposed fixings was to hinge the panel on the end.

12.01.2022 Some photos of a library that I built a few years back. The travelling ladder is fixed to a track in the above shelf. To slide the ladder entailed lifting the base of the ladder forward off the carpet and sliding it to where required. Fiddleback Blackwood with sprayed 2 pac lacquer finish.

10.01.2022 My door is installed and finished and Andrea and I are pleased with the result. Wayne Cook lead lighter, I can not speak highly enough of his work understood fully what I was wishing to achieve. And I am both grateful and honoured by his work, advice and assistance. If you are needing some lead lighting work of any kind Wayne's number is 0417 512 985. Les Loc Lockland, (0435 809 539) also brilliant at his work, with his son Jason did the photography. Thanks to all.

10.01.2022 Took some photos of photos of the last yacht I fitted out. A 50ft Aluminium hulled Van De Stadt. A few points; Take special notice of the set of drawers I mad...e with the round front in the galley fitting between the dishwasher and the gimballed stove. Top drawer stopped short of the sink. Second drawer down had to fit around the sink trap. The two seater settee in the main cabin has an air conditioner inside the cupboard to its left. I made the louvred doors and panels. Air intake in the bottom door and blowing out in the top door and to the side. The bench tops are Corion. Everything we built we mocked up first. There was difficulty finding a satisfactory solution to the internal corner of the bedhead. Then while the boat owner was out I cut out a mock lamp and poked it in the corner. As soon as the boat owner saw it he exclaimed, "That's it!" And that we did. My brother Rene helped me do this fit out, in Dandenong. The shed the boat was in was under a low temperature incinerator. Often the shed would be chock full of the smoke. It was a horrible environment. See more

09.01.2022 I built these stairs around 25 years ago for this mud brick home. Working in the home again currently, It is a really good feeling to be viewing the work that I did those years ago.

05.01.2022 Treescape Door.

03.01.2022 I have been building some redgum book shelving for a client. Pushed ahead a bit today putting the first coat of Ozmo onto the shelf dividers as I will have to follow up inserting all the brass bushes for the shelf supports, which can take some time to do.

03.01.2022 I went back to St Joseph's today to reinstall the Rereardos painting. The Altar cabinets are now complete. The painting ties everything back in together and th...e tones blend well, in my opinion. Onto the next project.

01.01.2022 I am levelling some Huon Pine slabs to make a table for a client. I do not recall seeing slabs like this before in HP. The fragrance, divine.

01.01.2022 Birch Plywood vanity with Cypress bench top and wardrobes. About two years ago. In the design, I envisaged the vanity being like the cockpit of a plane. The open shelves to the side are for rolled towels.
