25.01.2022 On Thursday 19th November we held our Junior Music Concert. For many students this was the first concert of the year, and for the Year 7s, the first performance of their John Forrest experience. It was wonderful to see such a crowd of parents, grandparents and friends gathered to watch. The audience enjoyed fantastic performances from the junior ensembles including bands, guitar ensembles, percussion ensemble and three different choirs. Many thanks to the IMSS and JFSC staff who conducted and helped on the night.

22.01.2022 JFSC Year 11 Sport and Recreation classes have spent the last 5 weeks experiencing some different areas of the Sport and Recreation industry including yoga at YMCA Morley Sport and Recreation Centre, rock climbing at The Hangout Indoor Rock Climbing Centre, croquet at Bayswater Croquet Club and an induction at Jetts Morley. As students near the end of their qualification, they are learning how and where this qualification can be used in the community. Well done!!
22.01.2022 JFSC 2020 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL The conditions were perfect once again for the College Inter-House Athletics Carnival held on Friday 5 September. Many students dressed up in their House colours ready to gain as many points for the House as possible. Participation was excellent in both the track and field events. The novelty events were lots of fun and well supported. Congratulations to those students who competed well, particularly those who broke school records! 21.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 Celebrations took place last Thursday including an incursion for our Indigenous students with some special guests visiting the College. The whole school was able to join in the celebration at lunch with a kangaroo sausage sizzle, face painting and braiding in the Kelso quad.
20.01.2022 Last Wednesday, Ms de Beer’s Year 7 class completed an Amazing Race. Students ran around the school to complete challenges related to learning about Australia’s Government. They had to identify Australia’s Governor General, piece together a jigsaw puzzle, and crack the code to discover the hidden words. It was a close run race, with Noah, Drew and Cruz winning the day.
20.01.2022 THANK YOU to all staff and students who supported our $20 Boss market. Students voted to donate $505 to Beyond Blue as a major donation. A certificate of thanks has been received from Beyond Blue in recognition of this.

Her studies of the Swan Valley, in particular, the gourmet foods produced there, prepared her well for her current employment at gourmet supermarket, European Foods in Osborne Park as featured in the Today liftout of the The West Australian newspaper on Thursday 5 November 2020. 18.01.2022 JFSC WHANAU DANCE SHOWCASE Our dance crew delivered mesmerizing performances to a full house at Swan Park Theatre last Thursday evening! All present would agree that the energy in the theatre was electric! A special thank you to our hardworking Dance teacher Ms Danielle Grills, all our talented dance students, staff and students who helped behind the scenes and all the wonderful spectators who purchased a ticket and supported this fantastic event!

16.01.2022 ENVIRONMENT EXPO Last Monday a group of our Year 11 students held the Environment Expo. The expo was a great way for all JFSC students and staff to learn about environment issues through a wide variety of interactive and informative displays. A range of information was showcased including how to make beeswax wraps, endangered species of the WA coast and identifying that waste can be recycled. Thank you to everyone who visited and supported this important expo!
15.01.2022 YEAR 10's THINK AHEAD On Wednesday of Week 4, a group of Year 10 students headed out to the City of Perth Library for the ABCN Future Thinkers program with employees of American Express. The ABCN Australian Business and Community Network Future Thinkers program aims to develop creative problem-solving skills and leadership through the process of design thinking. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop transferable skills for the future, including problem solving, critical thinking and judgement skills.
14.01.2022 The JFSC Prefect Council would like to thank all the students who supported our sports equipment drive in Term 3. The Prefect Council chose Fair Game to donate the profits of the fundraising activities conducted during our Inter-house Athletics Carnival. Fair Game's mission is to create an equitable, healthier and sustainable Australia by delivering unique health & fitness programs and recycled sports equipment to remote and under-serviced communities. The students raised $500 to assist in getting the sports equipment to where it needs to be.

12.01.2022 SALVOS CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2020 We need your support! Students are encouraged to donate non-perishable items such as tinned fruit, biscuits, dried food and any Christmas type food. This year we are doing the Appeal differently. Students and staff can drop their food items at the Chaplains office before Form class, each item brought in will receive a raffle ticket drawn on Wednesday 9 December. A total of 5 tickets will be drawn out, each winning a $10.00 canteen voucher.

DAY This is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone to ask, Are you OK? and to remember every day of the year to support people who may be struggling with life’s ups and downs. In recognition of this very important day Student Services hosted a R U OK? DAY morning tea in the staff room at recess.
10.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020 At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month Australia comes together as a community to pay their respects to the service men and women who served in Australian armed forces from World War One to the present day. The John Forrest Secondary College community remembered these service men and women last Wednesday. At 11am a minute’s silence was observed by the whole College as prefects laid a wreath at the College’s flagpole.

07.01.2022 This Years 'Boggle Bash' competition exceeded all expectations. Over 140 students particiapted in the literacy/spelling competition held in the library over 2 days. In groups, students competed in creating the most words from a set of consonants and vowels. Students were also rewarded for the creation words containing the most letters. Congratulations to our winners! Year 7/8: Jenna Basquina, Year 9-12: Chantelle Ong Thank you to all our student helpers and teachers, who helped to make the event a success. We look forward to Boggle Bash 2021.

05.01.2022 PLEASE BUY A RAFFLE TICKET AND SUPPORT CAPS Cricket Academy Parents (CAPs) are the parents of kids within the Cricket - Approved Specialist Program. They have existed for many years and support the Cricket program in terms of both equipment/facilities as well as supporting kids to attend trips/camps etc. CAPs is now a subcommittee of the P&C. The P&C have approved CAPs to participate in the Toyota Australia Good For Cricket Raffle, which runs across WA and Australia in support of club/local cricket.
04.01.2022 Year 8 Academic Extension Science, Computer Science and Engineering Club students were involved in a robotics workshop with the wonderful tutors from Fire Tech Australia last Wednesday. After a class discussion on STEM and Artificial Intelligence, the students built and programmed a robot that was then instructed to do basic menial tasks such as moving objects. The robots were then raced through an obstacle course!
01.01.2022 Year 10 Home Economics classes present High Tea! Preparation was carried out during a practical lesson, food was carefully stored and then on Presentation Day, students arranged their items on tiered trays. Tables were set, flowers arranged, candles lit and the tea was brewed. Invited guests arrived and the scene was set for our special event. Mrs Martinelli said "The year 10 students were engaged and cooperative, it was a delight to share this time with them. Well done to everyone!"
