21.01.2022 DO YOU LOVE YOUR BODY? I don't mean 'love' as a noun; I mean it as a verb. What am I talking about?... It might be easier to explain if I share an observation with you A lot of my health coaching clients will happily carry out the instructions on their Wellness Plan after their coaching sessions with me because I've asked them to because they feel accountable to me because they know I'll check in with them because they don't want to let me down ... and other reasons. But what if they didn't have me coaching them? Would they create their own plan to return to health? Would they set aside time each week to make sure their plan was on track and they were making progress? Would they stay accountable... to themselves? If they didn't have an outside source making sure they were taking care of themselves? My clients tell me they would not! (Which sounds funny. But actually, it really isn't). What it means to me is that they potentially don't love themselves enough to prioritise what they need to do to stay healthy in mind and body. We know that the disease process can take hold when we don't take care of our bodies. So, how come we don't show ourselves adequate amounts of love and care? How come we don't look after as bodies as a matter of priority? ...And how come we're more willing to do it when someone else (like a health coach) requires that we do it? Well, there's a lot of reasons, and I'd love to chat with you about them... but that might be a post for another time My point here is this: I want you to be healthy, feel vibrant, not get sick and live a long, long time. And in order to do that, you're going to need to change. Yep, that's right. You need to change! You need to LOVE your self. Like, properly show your body love and care. Every. single. day. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Let me put it another way: BUST THE MYTH that self care is a bubble bath and a night out with the girls. It isn't! Self care, self love is giving your body the nourishment the right environment the stress relief the sleep the movement your body needs, every day. Part of my work with my clients is teaching them how to change their behaviour so that they are caring for their bodies and prioritising their wellbeing.every day. *That's* what self love really is. I want you to know how incredibly precious you are, and I want you to treat yourself accordingly. Do you want to learn how to love yourself? Or do you know someone who does? Drop me a line and I'll explain how I can help. Tori X

08.01.2022 If pasta (or grain foods in general) don't agree with you, spaghetti squash makes a fantastic alternative for noodles. YUM !!

05.01.2022 This week my 11 year old came home proudly showing me the sprouts she'd grown at school She was even eating them enthusiastically... which she's never done before when I've grown them at home Sprouts pack a powerful punch nutritionally. A decent source of vitamin K, B, C and A... Also zinc, magnesium, iron and calcium... They're a great addition to your meals, especially if you need to boost your metabolism, address digestive issues or if you're anemic. Sprouts are eas...y to grow in your kitchen and they don't need much care. Just pop a couple of TBS of seeds (broccoli are ideal) in a glass jar, rinse and empty the water out (easiest if you poke holes in the lid or use mesh with a rubber band) and place in a dark place. Normally they start sprouting within a day or two. Rinse daily until you're happy with the size of your sprouts. Enjoy them raw, sprinkled on your meals, in a salad or just on their own See more

04.01.2022 CAN YOU BAKE YOUR WAY TO A BETTER MOOD? There are few things better than the smell of freshly baked goodies. My kids flock to the kitchen when I'm making fresh chai, turmeric lattes or vanilla custard (I mean real custard - from eggs - not the packet stuff! ) My daughter in particular loves the smell of vanilla beans and cinnamon I do, too - what about you?... So are we just appreciating them for their wonderful aromas... ? Or might there be more to these culinary spices than we commonly give them credit for? These studies I came across today didn't surprise me at all - after all, all aspects of our environment inform our genetic expression, our nervous system, and our immune function. This includes scent In fact, both cinnamon and vanilla have been shown to have antidepressant effects. In the first link below, Vanillin at the dosage of 100mg/kg was demonstrated to be as effective as fluoxetine (Prozac) in mice! In the second link, Cinnamon essential oil was found to decrease symptoms of depressive and anxiety disorders when studied on mice. Enjoy experimenting with these in your kitchen - or consider using small amounts of therapeutic grade essential oil - and see if you notice a difference Tori X Read more here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3660925/ Additional resource: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5569441/ See less
