24.01.2022 Introducing "Foraging" . This is a new colour way and a very different colour to what I would normally gravitate towards but I do love it. The soft tan base with its moss green and olive brown speckles remind me of mid winter walks through the forest and foraging on the forest floor for interesting mosses, leaves, and stones. With all the craziness of the world right now, it's good to disconnect occasionally and dive into nature and have a really good look around us. 17.01.2022 These lovely socks were knitted for me by @celinebosdesigns using a stamped sock blank. I often get asked "what can I do with a sock blank?". Well you can knit directly from a sock blank into either a sock or into a mitten or anything you like. They are great fun to work with. I love them because you can dye fabulous gradients on them like in the shawl by @hejatb (see my post from 7 Oct 2019) or stamp shapes on them like in this sample. The result is always a surprise wh...en you stamp onto the sock blank. Im looking forward to doing a few more for Christmas so watch this space! www.jokamamotextiles.com

12.01.2022 Introducing...."Avocado and Smashed Avo" on BFL High Twist Yarn. I never really knew that smashed avocado on toast was a "thing" until I moved to Sydney and saw it in cafes everywhere. We lived in Asia up until 2019 where avocados where hard to get and very $$$$. When you did splurge out to buy one, chances are they were brown and horrible inside. The time has finally arrived to share all my latest updates and news! I know Ive been a bit quiet since announcing my first design but Ive been busy behind the scenes making some new changes so that we get off on the right foot! Firstly, you will have noticed that Ive changed my Instagram name and updated my p...rofile picture to better reflect my new business venture, and so that I begin building a brand. Secondly, we come to the most exciting news of this post that isnt all business talk... the test knitting call for the Lavender Malt socks is out! If you love the look of this simple lace almost-shortie sock then Id love to hear from you! Theres a form link in my bio for you to fill out to apply for the test knitting call. The sock is going to be available in 4 sizes, from 60 stitches up to 72 stitches. Hopefully I can get at least two people for each size. Please share this post with your friends if you think they would love this pattern! In terms of yarn and needles requirements, any sock needles of your choice (DPNs, magic loops, 9 circulars etc) and any fingering weight sock yarn. The sample was knit in @lovebirdlane BFL sock in a OOAK on 2.25mm needles. Please note the pattern is written for magic loop style. Applicants will be notified by the 15th of September if they are successful, with the deadline for one sock being the 15th of October. More news to come on this in the future but Im so excited to get this ball rolling and release my first pattern!

06.01.2022 Today I feel like I am superwoman! Not because Ive saved anyone from a burning building or run faster than a speeding bullet (though that could be handy though )....but because Ive actually managed to achieve a lot today. The house we have been in has been up for sale the last few months and its been open homes every weekend Now it has sold and not only do we have to find somewhere else to live, I have to pack up my whole business (and Ive accumulated quite a bit ) and m...ove that too! Its also meant lots of migraines .....not that Im stressed or anything....... Today though, I am migraine free , done 3 loads of wash, done lots of dyeing and even squeezed in some time to view some houses. . Best make Hay while the sun shines!
