21.01.2022 This is an interesting article. I really like the part that says, The research suggests that ‘preschool programs are best when they focus on social, emotional and intellectual goals rather than narrow academic goals’ and provide ‘early experiences that provoke self-regulation, initiative and sustained synchronous interaction in which the child is interactive with others in some continuous process, rather than a mere passive recipient of isolated bits of information for stim...ulation.’ I also agree with this ‘major component of education must be to provide a wide range of experiences, opportunities, resources and contexts that will provoke, stimulate and support children’s innate intellectual dispositions.’ This is the foundation on which my goals as an educator are laid on. From my experience in working with children of all ages and raising my 12-month-old son, I strongly believe that all children are capable and competent learners and my goal as an educator is to tap into their abilities and facilitate their learning and development through exploring, investigating, experimenting, problem solving, interacting with peers, family and the wider communities.

20.01.2022 Christmas is coming!

20.01.2022 The importance of Creativity in a child's development and growth. And the best way to nurture creativity? Play-based activities of course.

20.01.2022 We have just added some tyres to the outdoor play area. The idea was to build a climbing structure or obstacle course out of them. Before we could even start anything, the kids were all over them -- mounting from the smaller tyres to the bigger ones, weaving in and out of the tyres like a snake and finally using them as benches for a rest after all the activity! If you have a suggestion or idea for our tyres, do let us know!

13.01.2022 I’ve been using a ‘Finger Gym’ for at least 10 years now. The children love the different activities we do, designed to strengthen their fine-motor skills. Here... are a few of the activities we’ve enjoyed Most of these images are on this Pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com//finger-gym-fine-motor-activiti/

11.01.2022 This is a savvy little activity for our young dinosaur lovers and budding paleontologists! The 'fossil rock' mixture is made of household food items such as flour and coffee but they do look pretty life-like, don't they? More importantly, it serves as a sensory play that can help kids develop a range of skills such as experimentation, exploration and investigation. It also promotes fine and gross motor skills, as well as imagination and creativity!

09.01.2022 Our kids' got their hands dirty to express their heart felt words to their dads for Father's Day!

07.01.2022 Behold our formidable fort! Another new addition to our range of creative toys made from recyclable materials. Since early morning, the kids have been buzzing in and out of the fort, exploring every window and door and making themselves at home by filling it up with their favourite books and toys. Great way to stimulate the kids' imagination and creativity as they start their adventures in the fort. What's next in store? Paint flags and banners? Make a moat? Build a bridge to cross the moat? The possibilities are endless!

06.01.2022 Loving the vibrant colours of this home made playdough. Great for building up strength in tiny hand muscles which they need for writing later, as well as developing fine motor skills. And just simply, for FUN! Can't wait for the kids to dig in playdough fun tomorrow!
