25.01.2022 Oh hello Coles magazine "skin-telluctual" story! Or should I say sorry instead of story A great industry friend pointed this out to me this morning - and so ...I just felt very called to share a bit more for you (thanks for the inspo Tamara Beaute Industrie) I just dont agree that the advice given here really serves humans, or skin - simply because of the ingredients in these products!!! I wont even get into the discussion about big corporation/big pharma and ethics... Microplastics such as polyethylene and acrylates is just two youll find - these are very TINY pieces of plastic that have a very LARGE damaging long term effects - they pollute our environment and are so prevalent they have now entered our food chain. I actually talk about this sadness in my seminars :( Another one is glycerin - this humectant will draw water from its nearest source. In Melbourne, in winter, in low humidity conditions, the nearest source of water is the lower levels of your skin - meaning as glycerin draws water UP there is much less water components available in your dermis to assist your anti-ageing processes. The occlusivity of the silicones and dimethicones and/or mineral oils/paraffimum (which I dont use) will trap it up the top, but the lowest part of your skin, your supporting structure, is parched. Doh. And I wont bang on about all the ingredients Im not keen for... but my other big no-no is FRAGRANCE! If your skin was originally made with fragrance you would be a real, live scratch and sniff. But - youre not. Fragrance is not part of your cellular workings and WILL HAMPER all sorts of skin activities. Avoid fragrance!!! The top part of your skin predominantly contains ceramides, free fatty acids and cholesterol in veeeeeery specific ratios - this special skin composition is truly unique and quite different to other membranes! Look for these ratios. Great skincare always has them Both essential and non-essential fatty acids, as well as triglycerides, play separate and critical roles in proper skin function. Im obsessed with skincare that respects these ratios, as there is a distinct and perfect synergy when they are all present. I also only use and recommend ingredients that respects the optimal function of skin, and WORK WITH THE SKIN. No human or environmental toxins, no carcinogenics, no harsh surfactants, no colours, no fragrance. The list goes on!! This is part of the many reasons why we use Dermaviduals - as well as all the above, their patented technology mimics the composition and structure of the top layer of your skin. Very clever!! So what do all these skin lipids do? Ceramides: Will increase your skins hydration (reducing TEWL) and enhance barrier function. Also helps assist in skin cell function (in fancy terms, regulates the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of your main skin cell, the keratinocytes!) Cholesterol: another helper for regulating what your skin cells are doing, and supports healthy barrier function. Fatty acids: Naturally abundant in young, healthy skin you definitely still want these as you get older as they are involved in many, many roles - but importantly helping form your skin barrier, and thus are critical in keeping skin hydrated, plumper, and younger looking Squalene: the main component of skin surface polyunsaturated lipids, it has some antioxidant properties as well as being VIP for protecting, moisturising, and lubricating the skin. Hope this information serves more wholly and completely than an advertisement for ingredients that dont fully support cells and skin health. Xx

I can’t diagnose a condition but it is definitely valuable for ascertaining depth of pigment and patterns of pigment.
