22.01.2022 A great visit to @marsgallery this week to complete a new sculptural work. This work was inspired by a previous work FLOURISH which speaks to our childlike freedoms within. We were born to flourish. Big thank you to @nickpledgepropmaker for fabricating the sculpture @_josh_muir #digitalart #contemporaryindigenousart #contemporaryart #sculpture #prize #joshmuir #indigenousart #3dprinting #modelmaking

15.01.2022 MARS Gallery is celebrating National Reconciliation Week with the work 'New Life' from the William Buckley Series by represented artist Josh Muir. ‘Murrunghurk’ tells the story of Willliam Buckley, who was transported to Australia in 1803 for receiving a bolt of stolen cloth. He escaped from the rst settlement of Port Phillip Bay, and at the point of starvation he fatefully took a spear from a recently dug grave to use as a crutch. The Wathaurong people believed him to be th...e owner of the spear returned from the dead, and accepted him into the tribe, where he learned their customs and language and lived with the tribe for 32 years. 14.01.2022 Late last year, I worked with the team at Bendigo Art Gallery and Art Processors for my exhibition 'WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?' The prints are on aluminium. Once you hold the iPad up to the artwork, it becomes possible to interact with it digitally. This is through augmented reality and animation which enabled a deeper exploration around themes of mental health and my artistic process and journey. 07.01.2022 As part of NAIDOC week 2018, I unveiled the 'Kulin Mural' at Melbourne Central. Set on the side of the heritage-listed Coop’s Shot Tower, the mural comprises of five panels measuring 150cm x 75cm and references personal and historical narratives through a vibrant colour palette. Each panel within the mural depicts a different time of my family’s ancestral journey. @_josh_muir #joshmuir #digitalart #indigenousart #publicart #naidoc #kulin #melbournecentral

05.01.2022 I'm excited to be participating in this year’s RCHArt Trail and have created a work on the mythical creature UooUoo (pronounced ‘you you’). ‘BINGA’ comes from my son’s own unique lingo. It means balloon. I tried my best to satisfy his imagination while painting the uoo uoo and his reaction was epic. I feel I hit the mark within a child's mind. To celebrate 150 years, the Royal Children's Hospital is bringing colour and creativity to the streets of Melbourne and Geelong with ...a spectacular public art trail culminating in an online fundraising auction. The one hundred unique UooUoos will be placed among laneways, streets, parks and public spaces, forming two sections of a walking trail across Melbourne and Geelong. After the event, the sculptures will be auctioned and take up more permanent residence with their new owners. By either sponsoring or purchasing a sculpture, individuals and corporations will contribute to this major fundraising event for the hospital, ensuring an enduring legacy for future generations. #rch150 #meanduoouoo #publicart #binga

03.01.2022 Last year I was selected for the inaugural Going Solo: First Nations 2019 exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery. For this exhibition 'What's On Your Mind' I worked closely with Bendigo Art Gallery’s First Nations Curator, Shonae Hobson and digital animator Isobel Knowles from Art Processors to create a series of interactive large-scale multimedia works that draw on aspects of youth culture and identity and my own personal experiences. @marsgallery #bendigoartgallery #augmentedreality #firstnations #joshmuir
