19.01.2022 COVID-19 ADVICE If you are quarantining or isolating in an area of fire risk, you can leave that location if you are in an emergency or if your home is unsafe - but try to get back as soon as you safely can. If you need to attend a relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services at the location and follow their instructions. Advise emergency services that you have left quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19.... Please ensure your emergency kits are updated to include masks, sanitiser, and any other items you may need to keep yourself safe and prevent any potential spread of COVID-19.

18.01.2022 Kuitpo Forest reserve has welcomed hundreds of thousands of new residents as the reserve opened to beekeeping for the first time an an effort to help SA's apiary industry. Minister David Basham - Member for Finniss and I had the opportunity to meet with some of the team on the ground that have been working on the pilot program. In particular we had the opportunity to meet with Simon Peacock of Mypolonga (Bakehouse Farm), one of three regional beekeepers who have been o...ffered sites as part of a State Government program. The other beekeepers being Aaron Woolston from Meningie and Les Crane from Strathalbyn (L & L Crane & Sons). Although the rain meant the bees were staying in their hives, it was instructive to be on site and to have the opportunity to discuss the pilot’s progress thus far and how the government can continue to support our apiary industry. During the initial phase of the pilot program, the Apiary Taskforce - which was established by the Marshall Liberal Government to source beekeeping sites on public land - has identified three sites within Kuitpo Forest, each able to house up to 120 hives with up to 60,000 bees in each hive. 17.01.2022 A few updates from today's Transition Committee meeting: From midnight tonight, cross-border community members will no longer be required to undertake a weekly COVID-19 test. We anticipate that in about two weeks people will be able to stand at a bar and enjoy a drink or food, with digital check-in systems being rolled out across the hospitality sector to help with contact tracing. Victoria is doing a good job and we are on track to open our border before Christmas, wi...th a condition that people self isolate for 14 days. We encourage Year 12 school leavers to celebrate at home this year in a COVID Safe way. A limit of 50 people per household still applies and it is important you know who has attended the party you host. See more

13.01.2022 Did you know that the average household produces 3.3 kg of food waste EVERY week? and that an average general waste bin is made up of more than 40% food waste? A simple way that you can do your bit for climate change is to compost at home or (more convenient for most), pop your food waste in your green bin. Less food in landfill = less methane emissions = a more climate smart South Australia. I recently put together this useful fridge magnet and have been distributing i...t locally. Let me know if you’d like one! For further tips on what to put in which bin, visit www.whichbin.sa.gov.au or the Which Bin? Facebook page. #NationalRecyclingWeek

13.01.2022 We are further easing COVID-19 restrictions in SA. These important changes will provide a welcome boost to the hospitality and events sector who have been doing it tough. It will also mean people have more freedom to celebrate special occasions the way they want to.... From 12.01am, 3 October, standing hospitality will be able to resume outdoors at licensed venues. Furthermore, private functions at licensed venues with a maximum of 150 guests, like weddings, will be able to have standing consumption and dancing. This can be indoors or outdoors. However, there is a strict condition that contact tracing records are kept of all guests and other specific requirements like having a COVID Marshal present are met. I sincerely thank South Australians for their cooperation as we continue to ease restrictions.

06.01.2022 South Australia Police and SA Health are monitoring closely the situation in Western Australia after a hotel quarantine security guard in Perth tested positive ...to COVID-19, sending much of the state into a five-day lockdown. The possible spread of COVID-19 in Western Australia is of particular concern. This situation is volatile and changing rapidly, the South Australia State Coordinator Grant Stevens strongly urges all people from South Australia contemplating or intending to travel to Western Australia today; or in the coming days, to very seriously consider whether that travel is essential. Further, those people who are holidaying or travelling in Western Australia should consider returning to South Australia as soon as possible. South Australia Police to have a presence at the airport to ensure all people entering the state from interstate have submitted a cross border travel application. This will ensure a record is maintained of those people entering the state, so if there is another outbreak, they can be contacted. The situation is currently being reviewed and will be closely monitored overnight. For more information about other restrictions, go to covid-19.sa.gov.au/ or call the COVID Information Line 1800 253 787.

03.01.2022 I want to give you an update on the swift and decisive action we're taking to further strengthen our medi-hotel system. Based on expert health advice, we will ...implement eight specific actions, including transferring all positive COVID-19 cases from medi-hotels to a dedicated health facility. We will also ensure that the security of this facility is exclusively provided by SA Police and SA Protective Security Officers. I want to point out that while the recent independent review by Ms Jane Halton AO PSM gave South Australia's medi-hotel system a gold star, there is never zero risk of transmission with this virus. It's a nasty, silent enemy. And as every day, week and month passes, we're learning more and more about it. That's why we will not miss any opportunity to review our systems in real time and act. And these eight actions are an example of just that. I also want to highlight the wonderful work our front line staff have been doing right across the state. Your hard work and dedication is critical in keeping SA safe and strong Thank you.

We have confidence that WA will get on top of this situation and that these restrictions won't be in place for too long.
