23.01.2022 Through a different lens... This was another one of the photos I took on the weekend. It's funny, because so many people where I live take photos of the broken stumps of wood that majestically still stand from where once a jetty once stood, however, for me, it is the stumps that stand on the beach that show me just as much beauty. Why am I talking about stumps of wood, when my passion is upcycling? But why I believe that dreams are important, is because if no one dared to dream, we wouldn't have the technological or social advancements that we take for granted today; we wouldn't have thought to build an airplane, or to walk on the moon, or to fight for equality. My dream seems simple compared to my predecessors, but I want to share it with you today... I dream of a world where we are making the most of what we've got. 11.01.2022 I must say, I just love denim! There is a reason why it's been a fashion staple in our wardrobe since it's invention and today it comes in so many colours and textures that we are spoilt for choice. Unfortunately, it is also something that we discard in abundance and there is a high cost that the environment pays for such an incredible, versatile fabric. Reusing, rather than discarding as you know is what I am passionate about, because we are not only giving that fabric a cha...nce to live again, but we are reducing the cost to the environment. This cushion uses up all of the leftover squares that I recently put together for my first quilt and had a lot of fun using a men's shirt for the backing. 04.01.2022 I took a walk on the weekend with my camera, something I would never normally have time for in my pre-Covid19 life... and as I walked along the beach to a common spot near where I live, I found an array of bird life and I can't tell you if they are always there at this time of year, but what I can tell you, is that it was truly wonderful to behold. And I was thinking today, that there is good (if we look beyond ourselves and our frustrations with our situation) that has been ...brought about by Covid19. We have reduced carbon emissions, we have returning wild life (I'm thinking about the canals in Venice where fish have been spotted again) and a return to simpler ideals, as we look at learning skills or re-visiting lost skills, such as baking, gardening or even sewing. #justonethingimagine #environment #environmentaleducation #environmentalawareness #environmentalsustainability
