24.01.2022 Celebrating Graduation As a special treat for our Graduating Kinder’s, we took small groups of children out for a nice refreshing drink at our local cafe, where we sat outside and chatted about what the children were most excited for when they begin school next year. We are going to miss our Graduates very much and wish them all the happiness at their new schools.

23.01.2022 ‘Always was, always will be’ We celebrated NAIDOC week by reading one of the children’s beloved Indigenous stories The Echidna and the Shade Tree and then made their own echidna’s from Damper, bread traditionally made by Indigenous Australians. It was great to see all the children coming together to acknowledge the importance of Australia’s Indigenous culture and gain an understanding of diversity and respect for the Indigenous people and the land.

They each assigned themselves a job within their game - someone would dig, someone would collect the excess sand and someone would collect the treasure they found! ... It was amazing to see the children working together as a team, building their social and communication skills and setting themselves personal goals and challenges!

Early social interaction is particularly beneficial for children’s development of language skills, empathy and confidence. We love to see children of all ages bonding through education!

19.01.2022 Colourful Creativity! Our Toddler children practised their fine motor skills and visual awareness by manipulating small craft objects to fit inside their bottles. They learnt that through holding the bottle at different angles, and using pinch or pushing movements, they were able to fill their bottles with various different materials. After they were satisfied, they put the lids back on and had an amazing sensory bottle to shake and rattle!

19.01.2022 Story Time Outside! We celebrated Book Week by inviting the children to wear costumes and bring in a book from home. During free play outside, the Toddler and Kinder children asked if they could have a story together and so off we went on another adventure across the pages!

14.01.2022 The Kinder children learnt about the importance of washing hands through a fun science experiment. They had bowl of water, black pepper and soap. The Kinder Teacher explained that the pepper symbolises the germs and how washing our hands with soap can get rid of the germs! They sprinkled the pepper into the bowl, covered their fingers in soap and dipped them into the bowl, watching the pepper scatter to the edges!... The Kinder children were amazed at this simple science demonstration that showed how using soap when washing hands made germs go away!

13.01.2022 Sustainable Painting! With the weather warming up, our Nursery children have been engaging in outdoor art, using recycled cardboard, water and brushes. They used the water to create dramatic art pieces that they then could appreciate whilst playing outside. Sustainable activities educate children to care for their environment and respect their natural world!

11.01.2022 Here's our first Nutrition Week handy hack! Switching to whole grains is the easiest way to make a positive nutritional impact to your children’s diets. This means swapping refined grain products for whole grain alternatives and is as simple as choosing brown rice over white rice, whole grain oats instead of processed oats, or wholemeal bread instead of white bread. Always read the nutrition label and look for the word whole in front of wheat or the grain. And watch out fo...r misleading labelling such as mixed grain. To find out more about how to read nutrition labels and make some simple swaps to boost your family’s nutrition, you can sign up to The Wholesome Child Academy for free, and go through Mandy’s complimentary Wholesome Shopping course. This interested some of the other children and resulted in them making their own sunscreen creations! This activity started from the imagination of the children and prompted learning and discussions on the importance of sun safety. It also allowed for us to plan activities and learning that will further the children’s understanding and current knowledge on the subject.

03.01.2022 Sharing is caring! Our babies have been building strong connections to each other through sharing play spaces and resources. 02.01.2022 Welcome back for our second handy hack of Nutrition Week! Cooking with children is a brilliant way to increase their willingness to try new foods. By turning cooking into fun sensory play with no pressure to try what is made, children often surprise you with their curiosity and enthusiasm to give new foods or textures a go. But we get it, it can be messy and so is often avoided! Paediatric Nutritionist and Founder of Wholesome Child Mandy Sacher, has the following advice, when cooking with kids at home, try prep ingredients in the sink to make the clean up a breeze! This is how I love cooking with my own children and it makes the mess no fuss at all. Another fun and easy strategy to encourage fussy eaters to try new foods is by using cookie cutters to turn things like cheese slices and sandwiches into their favourite shapes.
